I talked with a factory rep today at Ford. I wanted to know what options I had on my truck. The gal I talked to said that based on my VIN, I definitely have the power folding mirrors; however, it looks like I have the standard mirror control.

Are they interchangeable? Is it possible that somebody installed the wrong switch. My mirrors are heated, have turn signals and puddle lamps. Everything I read says that these should be power fold mirrors. I can fold them manually but it doesn't seem like I'm pushing against the motor or anything.

I'm attaching pictures of the mirrors and of the switch. I'd appreciate anything you guys can offer.

I think the person you talked to was misinformed. I don't think power fold mirrors were available for the 2nd gen.

Yes they are. The switch is the same on my exp. you need to have the knob on center or neutral and then pull down. That make the mirror fold in.

When I put the switch in the center position and move the stalk down until it stops and hold it down, nothing happens. Do you have to push it down hard or just till it stops?

I just push down and release the knob and that it. You may need to clean the contact of that switch with electronic cleaner and add some d-40 on the mirrors. See if they works

I also just got my '05 EB Expedition and my family and I are very happy with it. But, I do miss the power-folding mirrors on my '03 Silverado 1500HD.....

The exact wording on my Expy's window sticker is "DUAL FOLD HEAT/PWR MIRROR" This leads me to believe that my truck has dual mirrors that fold; are heated; and are power........but "power" what? I assume power adjustable. I tried the procedure outlined earlier in this thread, but no love. :bawl:

No big deal, just would have been cool to have that feature again.

Cheers, all!

Welcome SirJeffro,

I unfortunately didn't get a window sticker - I'm the fifth owner. I went on the Ford Owner's site and contacted Ford factory customer service and I gave them my vin and asked if I had power fold mirrors. They said according to their computer, my vehicle has them. Now I'm just trying to figure out if somebody changed out the switch. The Owner's Manual shows a different switch for the power fold mirrors. I'm going over to the dealer this afternoon and I will ask them to figure it out.

Seems like it would be rather involved and time consuming, but I bet it could be done. You could get the parts from a PnP and spend a Saturday doing the switch-over.

Andy, I see that your truck is listed as having the HD Trailering Package....does it have a seven-pin trailer wiring connector?

Cheers!
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

My truck has both connectors. The 7 pin mounted to the hitch and one that is attached to the wiring harness but tucked up behind the hitch.

According to the manual if you have the power folding option there is a picture of the mirrors on the top of the outer ring (where the up arrow is located on ours) and it lets you know that you have the power folding option. That is just what I saw from looking at the manual.

Eric is correct. You would be able to see on the actual switch the way to get the mirrors to fold. Your mirrors look like OEM non-folding mirrors. I was able to obtain a set of Navigator Folding mirrors and wire them up to work in my 05. I am still working on trying to mount my switch. I went to the Junkyard and got a power window switch that matches the rest of my switches and wired them up. It's not too bad but running the extra wires to the mirrors and through the door jamb were a pain in the butt.
