I have a 2003 Expidention and it is idling rough when I'm at a stop light. I Have changed the plugs, pvc valve, mass air flow sensor, O2 sensors 3 times, and a couple of hoses. I also have taken it to a garage and they couldn't fix it . I also smell the gasoline smell. Any help would be great.

Does it take longer than normal to start? Have you looked around the vehicle for a fuel drip? I had a fuel filter stay leaking on me but didn't cause a rough idle. This was on a grand cherokee though. Rough idle could also be caused by excess exhaust gas recirculating through your egr from a bad dpfe sensor.

Is the smell of fuel while the engine is running? Is it coming from the exhaust? If so, you have unburned fuel. If that is the case the you have spark problems (plugs or COP), fuel problems (injectors) or timing. My two cents.

If it's ****** fuel will switching to a higher octane ethanol free fuel help?

I once filled up at a gas station that I swear used water with fuel.
My expy ran like crap for about a month, but after using fuel additives and only premium gas, it ended up getting better.
It could be anything all other members are saying though, so no promises!
