Interesting... mystery smoke from tailpipe

Sorry phone typing while at work. What I meant was if you haven't seen any white smoke since adding fluid, then none has burned off and it explains why it hasn't gone down. If you have seen it, but the fluid has not moved at all, it might be something else. But it doesn't take much coolant burning to produce a cloud. Hopefully that makes more sense

You said the PO rebuilt the engine? Did he show receipts? I'm wondering if he didn't do the correct torque sequence for the head bolts. If they're not tightened correctly the heads can lift under load and allow coolant into the cylinder.

Yes much better explanation, thank you. Coolant level hasn't moved since adding the little bit we did when we did the oil change. Took a highway drive a few days after the oil change at sopeds that had produced the puffs previously and no puffs but then again it didn't happen every time I drove the highway previous to the oil change either. Ugh.. So frustrating.

The po did not provide receipts to the work, he's a mechanic and did the seals, gaskets, coil packs, plugs, wires etc himself. The way the motor runs at 191000 miles tends to make me believe the work was done but I agree if he didn't do the proper torque sequence that could be problematic. I should ask him about that.
