Overheating

Please......you are not insulting me. I understand that sometimes simple things are overlooked. But unfortunately it was installed properly. I may just take it out anyway tomorrow for the hell of it.

Well, truck had been sitting for over 12 hrs. I get in turn the key to start and the temp gauge goes to middle and slowly creeps up as I attempt to start it but now the truck won't start at all.

Seems very strange that the temp gauge goes to the middle after it has set for 12 hours

try disconnecting the battery for about 15 minutes this will reset the PCM then try a restart

well, I would say we are moving on to the electrical diag part of this problem. you're gonna need to check the resistance of all of your temp sensors to find the bad one. I would start with the one (or two if so equipped) on the coolant crossover part of the intake. I will have to find the expected resistance readings. but in the mean time this could be checked and recorded for when the specs are listed

you stated the truck wouldn't start did the engine crank over and not fire up
or just not crank over

I'm sorry,I meant it would crank over but not start. This truck ran perfect until this started to happen. I forgot to mention this is not the original engine though. My wife did not check the oil and blew the motor so I got one from a salvage yard and put it in myself. But that was over 2 1/2 years ago. I did put new coils in it 2 weeks ago. But I do not believe this is relevant to my current issues.

not for the over heating issue Yesterday I suggested removing the t/stat If you do then take the new stat and place it in a pot of water and heat till it boils. Use a pair of long nose pliers and remove the stat while the water is still boiling and see if the stat is open

for the starting issue you may want to check fuse 2 and 18 under the hood
and fuse 2 and 30 under the dash.

you can also try spraying a small amount of starter fluid or carb cleaner into the intake to see if the engine fires but again just a small amount

In regards to it not starting....cant I disconnect the sensor and then try to start it. Because then the computer wont send it into limp mode.??? Would this work?

Also, not to just through money at a problem but I found a radiator on craigslist for $30 only 10 min away I am thinking about getting. Mine has over 240,000 on it and that might be my circulating problem

OK....a little progress. I disconnected the sensor under the intake manifold and the truck started right up, a little rough but it started.

I would think that just disconnecting the connector would have no effect if its already in limp mode but you could try. my suggestion to disconnect the battery to reset it if its already in limp mode.

as far as a used radiator I would first remove the two hoses on your present rad and run water from a hose to see what kind of flow you have.
Also do that to the used rad if you plan to by it'

Also consider replacing both hoses and the lower hose can be a pain to remove

good see if you can get a resistance reading on the sensor

also check your temp gauge with the sensor disconnected post the readings

Checked fuses...all good

ok..more to report. When I disconnected the temp head sensor it would run fine only for maybe 10 sec and then die but the red warning light was lit for the low oil pressure/ high coolant temp. I sprayed electrical cleaner in the plugs and reassembled it. The truck now starts as before with all the same problems. The temp gauge starts in the middle and in 20 sec or so climbs to the max. But flow still seems to be the problem IMHO, hence the new radiator purchase. Just waiting for the guy to get back to me. And if thats not it, I'm only out $30 or I can put it back on CC.

As far as radiator blockage goes, could I just remove upper and lower hoses, put my garden hose in upper and see how it flows out the lower?
