I keep reading on here that to determine which coil is bad, you have to have a diagnostic computer hooked up. The HAYNES book however says you can just measure the coils with an ohm meter. Is this accurate?
I just assumed that I had the individual coils, but I just read that not all models had that. So now I'll have to check my motor out and see. 98, 5.4L, XLT.
Also, is a coil pack something that is ok to get from the junk yard? I assume that if I can ohm it out, it would be fine, right?
My EXPED has been running fine, except for the exhaust manifold leak. The other day I took it for an hour drive and while doing 60+ it bucked a few times and seemed to lose power for a second. I got it to where I was going, and it sat for about an hour. On the way home, it bucked a couple more times, but no where near as bad as the first time. I am hoping it's a coil pack, but at $50 a piece, I can't afford to replace them all, or just throw parts at it without determining the actual problem.
