Just joined and really didn't expect this to be my first actual post but just got this code a few days ago. For those that are the Search function police, I already used it and it appeared that some people had a fix but they PM'd it over to the person with the problem and I didn't see any that actually went thru a fix, just a ton of troubleshooting. I took it into Ford to check it out because I figured it would be something small but they're saying it's a bad fuel tank pressure sensor and that it costs around 1100 to fix. Just seems insane to me. Any help would be awesome. I have an 05 EB btw. Thanks.

The following was copies from the 2005 Ford Service Manual

P1450 - Unable to Bleed Up Fuel Tank Vacuum

Description:
Monitors the fuel vapor vacuum and pressure in the fuel tank. System failure occurs when the EVAP running loss monitor detects excessive fuel tank vacuum with the engine running (but not at idle).

Possible Causes: Blockages or kinks in the EVAP canister tube or EVAP canister purge outlet tube (between the fuel tank, EVAP the canister purge valve and the EVAP canister).
Fuel filler cap stuck closed (no vacuum relief).
Contaminated fuel vapor elbow on the EVAP canister.
Restricted EVAP canister.
CV solenoid stuck open (partially or fully).
Plugged CV solenoid filter.
EVAP canister purge valve stuck open.
VREF circuit open (harness near the fuel tank pressure [FTP] sensor, the FTP sensor or the powertrain control module [PCM]).
Damaged FTP sensor.

Diagnostic Aids:
Visually inspect the EVAP canister inlet port, CV solenoid filter, and canister vent hose assembly for contamination or debris.
Check EVAP canister purge valve for vacuum leak.

Where are these located and can that cause a secondary issue that emulates the Fuel Pump Relay failure?

Here's your evap canister.... should be back behind the fuel tank, above the spare tire.... just take a flash light and check the condition of the hoses and that none are cracked or leaking vacuum. (Part # Motorcraft CX2162 )

Here's your Evap purge valve, you'll find it up on the firewall in the engine bay. Check the condition of the hoses attached to it. I had the supply line from the engine leaking, causing evap codes.

You can find most all your replacement parts either on Rock Auto.com or Amazon ....

P.S. No Certus, failure of these parts will not emulate a failed fuel pump relay ....

Thank you Mike.

At least I know why the code and heavy fuel smell from the rear of the truck. I can literally see vapor trails when I park.

I'll drop the spare and take a look.

Bummer about the fuel relay issue as my search for an answer continues or I just proactively replace the fuel pump as she's upwards of 170k miles anyway and it's a future failure anyway.
