For some odd reason my 2014 limited el shows empty on the gas gauge. The info seems correct on how many miles are left until empty but the gauge only comes up to E.

I had some intermittent errors to check the gas fill last week but that seemed to go away. now this.

Thanks for any help

That is not how it works on the 3rd Gens. The MTE and level correlate one is not different from the other. For example if mine shows empty it will also show <30 MTE. If I have a 1/4 tank it shows ~80 MTE. He is stating the analog display is showing empty however he still has plenty of fuel onboard. It's possible he has a bad display or bad servo motor.

Yes I have plenty of gas in the tank but it shows Empty. When I turn the ignition the gauge does move a tiny amount from below E to the E position.

I would be curious as to what the gauge reads when the tank is full. Does it read F or E or somewhere in-between.

Since that information wasn't given by the OP it difficult to determine if he has a problem or if that is just the way his gauges work

Then again being its a 2014 and if its still under warranty his best bet would be to take it to the dealer and let them see if there is a problem

the vehicle is no longer under warranty. It was in a collision involving the left front and totaled. Original damage was actually pretty minor. left fender, grill, hood and wheel assy.

I have been driving the vehicle for a while and the gas gauge did work normal until now. Is there a way to test what/where the faulty is.

I don't have any wiring diagrams for that year

I would check the wiring harness under the hood or the drivers side to see if anything is loose or damaged

being totalled has nothing to do with warranty validation unless they can prove a repair is causing the problem. That being said I would test the cluster and see if that is the issue.

Wow this would be great if the vehicle is still under warranty. I read this on ford's website about the new vehicle warranty.

• vehicles that have ever been labeled or branded as dismantled, fire,
flood, junk, rebuilt, reconstructed, or salvaged; this will void the New
Vehicle Limited Warranty
• vehicles that have been determined to be a total loss by an insurance
company; this will void the New Vehicle Limited Warranty

Since you have owned the truck has the gauge worked correctly?

Have you tried smacking the dash right above the gauge to see if there is a change in the reading?

Have they expressly said your warranty is void?

no dealer ever told me my warranty is void. Maybe it is still good?
