2nd oil change this morning

took her to have tires rotated again and fresh oil change... 9777 miles

I must be doing something wrong...rears are 2/32 less in tread than the fronts.
the rear limited slip must be really not slipping and i might need to ease up on the GO pedal

I think you answered your own question! Same reason I only got about 8,000 miles on my Z06 before needing rear tires.

Big engines tend to do that if driven in RWD mode tho

I did the first change at 500, next at 3000 and just now at 6000.

I was told by the dealership when I bought my 2017 that first oil change should be @ 5000, then every 10,000 after that using a quality synthetic oil. The 3.5 TT is a great, well engineered engine and modern synthetic oils should stand up with this schedule.

What are everyone's thoughts on that????

Well....if you trade them in or lease do whatever. As you can see from my list of vehicles the ones bought new, we keep them. The '16 with the twin turbos and the fact that the intake valves are the weak points....a oil and filter is cheap insurance for me at every 3,000 with Motorcraft filter and oil. Remember a dealer and the motor company don't want engines or vehicles to last or they wouldn't sell any.

The '06 that I sold was bought with 130,000 on it and had oil related engine issues. I was told that it was changed every 5000. Maybe it was maybe it wasn't but it sure had oil related issues. Our 1989 I pulled the heads at 180,000...the cylinders had no wear, could still see factory cross hatching and no groove at the top. Heads were spotless as were the valve covers. No one will ever convince me otherwise from 3000 mile oil changes.

i half what ever the oil change thingy says
mainly because it gets HOT here and we tend to spend most of the summer in San Antonio and traffic is a bear.

intake valves are not really a weak link, its the crap that get stuck to them from the egr and crappy fuel that lets the crud build up.
cured this like our 7.3 and 6.0 diesels...drive em like you stole them,
no long idling or short start cycles to move em three feet.
only problem we had with the eco boost was bad spark plug gaps in the 2013, and one new inter-cooler (silent recall).

the newer intercooler now still cools the charge but also does a better job at keepign the oil mist in suspension, vice settling in the bottom. at least that was the intent of the engineers

I decided that I was going to go old school on mine. I'm going to change the oil and filter after 1000 miles and then have the dealer put full synthetic in it and I will do oil changes at 5-6K intervals. I believe that will help keep the engine nice and healthy.

Don't modern TTs have stupid federally mandated EGR systems? Pretty sure they do.

If that's the case, your oil will be JET black after like 100 miles tops... think diesel oil.

Which also means that you should usually ignore whatever the oil recommendation is and consider whichever viscosity of Rotella T6 comes closest, and then dope it with some good additive

Mine comes out a very very dark amber at 3000 miles. And our diesels are changed on a regular schedule too and are never jet black.

Well, idk...mine diesel has sub-5-second 0-60 times and a ton of miles, maybe that's why

In a new turbo w/ EGR engine, that's all cause the exhaust is literally recycled through the engine again
