Edge, Fusion, Escape, Focus, Just to name a few. Do I need to keep going?
The Expy has M, where most Fords have S.
The Expedition is not meant to be a Sporty Vehicle. It is a LARGE SUV. Can it be quick off the line? Yes, but Sporty? Not really something I would use to describe it.
I really have no issue with the shift strategy in general. It does a decent job. I have driven FAR worse!
The tranny is a popular luxury sport sedan model though
3rd gen has essentially the same gearbox as an E90 BMW 335d which IS a sporty as hell tire shredder
Its just that 6r80 is license-built by ford and ZF 6hp28 is the original...btw the Ford version, strangely enough, has a few improvements over the original

Still doesn’t take away that it’s a 6,000 pound SUV..... A bimmer that is 3,000 pounds is a whole different world.

The original post stated a "2-3 second" delay in downshift(that sounds a bit off). I don't consider a Focus, Escape,Edge Fusion or a Expedition a sports car. I personally, don't want my vehicle to be just decent. I want it to run, at its full potential, all the time. I want it, without any computer algorithm, overriding my inputs. The owner should have an option, to disable it, like the ZF version.
You asked for examples of Fords with Sport Settings, I gave you some.
I never said they were Sports Cars.
I would call the Focus ST and RS sports Cars, and the Edge Sport and Fusion Sport definitely Sporty.
Non of which I would use to describe the Expedition. It is a LARGE SUV. It is meant to move/pull lots of people and stuff, under many conditions.
2/3 Seconds is extreme. Several of us have already given suggestions on how to drive it differently to minimize or remove that delay. If it is still not good a programmer helps.
Back in the day the old mechanical vacuum based 3 and 4 speed autos were terrible under sudden downshift situations. These Electronic trans are SO much better!

Right now we have snow and ice on the streets again but when it clears up I will get you guys a video for better insight. It was definitely at least 2 seconds the first time I floored it. But if it's adaptive it makes sense because I have to baby it with the road conditions.

Listen to the pedal hit the floor then the slight delay, this is not the best example as it takes off pretty quick but it’s still present. It’s more there when you hammer down after your up to speed and the computer thinks about the downshift.

Yeah that was definitely a quicker response than what I experienced. I would think from a dig I would have similar results though. I was doing around 60mph then floored it to change lanes and it felt like the truck died until it accelerated really hard afterwards.
Get us a vid if you can. Be safe about it though!
