hello all! I just bought my wife a new to us 2017 EL Limited. We have been expedition fans since we bought our first 2008 EL limited in '08 put 187k on it (it is now out in the driveway waiting to be sold). We love the '17. I am looking at putting the readylift kit on it and going up to 33" tires. I was just wanting to hear from those who have put on the lift and larger tires. How is the ride. This one handles soooo much better than our '08, I don't want to do anything that will make it ride poorly. I would love your input. also how big a tire can you go without rubbing?

I can't speak for the '17 or tires, but my '14 is a hair stiffer after I had the readylifts installed. It's not a huge difference, but I can feel the potholes and bumps a little more.

I second @oldpaddy ive got 2016 Readylift and 35s. Little stiffer but still rides like a dream at highway speeds.
@DrJohn check out my thread “my Readylift 3/2 experience” or something like that. I did a whole right up of my install. I promise you will not be disappointed. 33s will fit no issue up to 12.50 wide. I have 35/11.50 on OEM wheels C88C9EC8-8DB8-434B-A369-DA8CCB7FB878.jpeg

Dont see why a '17 should handle significantly better than an '08 ----- mods and trashed steering and suspension parts notwithstanding

So be careful to avoid recreating your older truck's symptoms when installing the same suspension mods, wheels, and tires....take notes and do mods one by one

PS handling and ride are two vastly different things btw, a lot of cars ride like shit and handle like gold (think small BMW), or ride like an old Buick but handle like an old Buick too

Ok
The ride difference for me, I suspect is the tire itself. When going larger and wider the options are usually load range E (10 ply) or F (save for Goodrich Duratrac in 275/60/20 which is still XL).

I prefer to have more tread ply to avoid flat tires etc. Ultimately your going from a girl tire (say stock Pirelli’s?) to a man tire... ;)

Does anyone know if the new 2018 raptor wheel will fit my 2017 expy. Found a pair of take offs with tires. I thought might look good with lift.

Being that I just added a 3 and 1/2 / 2 and 1/2 leveling kit to my 07 also added 285 75 17 it does write a little stiffer than before not as squishy feeling little harsher on the bumps I should be that to the 10 ply tires I have noticed that when steering it darts a little more and before but I'm going to go and have it a line at 3:30 today to see if that helps it
