Where is the Kansas edition? Throw a Jayhawks on it and call it good.

I used to have a Jayhawks license plate, jayhalk and everything. Don’t know if they still make them in KS, it was 20 years ago.

I thought Texas Edition was a Chevy thing, are we sure this post wasn’t a joke? Oh never mind I see Ford, Dodge, and Chevy all have them.

It’s not. Ford has had Texas Editions forever. My 2012 F150 XLT was a Texas Edition. It’s a marketing thing; essentially they put together some of the most popular packages, slap some badging on it, and charge a little more.

In this case it’s a Limited with the 22s/CCD and the Special Edition package which was/is the surround view camera/parking assist and the heavy tow package.

So, basically if you live in Texas and buy a Limited 302a with the heavy duty tow package, you will have Texas Edition badging. That’s what happened with my F150, I didn’t even know I was buying that package but the combination of options I picked defaulted to the Texas Edition.

Except, it’s available everywhere.

The king ranch is their staple for the brand. It'l be around longer than the "platnium" trim.

Maybe, maybe not. Ford is trying to expand its market reach to new customers who have never purchased Ford. And they really needed to cause GM was selling literally TEN times as many Tahoe/Suburban and variants as the Expedition. Given this, people not familiar with Ford understand what a “Platinum” trim level means. Many other auto manufacturers use it and it makes sense to a lay person.

But “King Ranch”? It’s not so obvious what that means to a person who’s never owned a Ford.
