Used the expy to pull some trees down for my dad today.....emerald ash borers killed all their trees. Used the truck to guide the fall in the correct direction. 4X4 and a little gas equals a home run. 5.4L power!!! Went around a big tree in the middle to use as leverage for most except on one had to pull straight so I went way back. Interesting day. Ash trees are dying at an alarming rate and it’s becoming a hazard everywhere, damn beetles.

There's some nice firewood there. I have a beautiful old ash tree that's doomed. Its not dead yet! They're all gonna die, just like the American Chestnut.

My brother in law says you can burn ash right away, doesn't need to be seasoned like most firewood. I dont know if you have to wait until winter to cut the tree down or if thats true for a tree cut this time of year. Of course if the tree was dead its sort of seasoned already, sadly.

@JExpedition07 that is gorgeous color.
What did Ford call it?

RedFire Metallic/ RedFire Pearl are Fords terms for it. What’s neat about it is it looks different at different times of the day depending where the sun is coming from. I’d guess this is due to the metallic flakes in the paint refracting the light.

Its lots of fun ain't it though! I used the expy 2 years ago to pull a tree stump out, was a nightmare getting traction on grass but plenty of fun fighting it

What is the model year, and various stats of it? (Mileage, issues to date)

It’s a 2007, 169,000 miles still runs great. Typical issues pop up I just fix them as they come and keep on top of the maintenance using OEM. Wheel hub/bearings, 4WD hub actuators, blend door actuator etc etc. Put in a new driveshaft assembly recently.

I've used my Expeditions for stump pulling, making sure the tree falls where I want it, etc. Good vehicle for that, especially with the front hooks.

Have you had rust issues on the leading edge of the hood and on the area around the liftgate handle? At least 2 of my Expys have had that but no help from Ford...

Hmmm. "Ash borer" was coming to mind with my trees. Young. Maybe 8 years old? This year, one looked different than his brother. Then, bam. He looked dead.
