I took my 2018 Ford Expedition 302A into the dealership for the mirrors randomly going to the far position and then they start popping (specifically the glass, not the actual mirror body). It usually happens when I start the vehicle...almost like it thinks its going to a memory position. They said they couldn't replicate it so they can't do anything...even though I showed them a video. Thoughts? I asked for them to check for software updates for the system including the PCM/TCM or whatever and they said that wasn't necessary..."You have plenty of warranty left...if it does it again...bring it back."

I think every expy does this. Mines does it every time i change the memory seat. Try that next time you go. I took mine in for the bench seat recall and asked them to take a look at my sync system for bluetooth issues. They said no errrors or issues. Same night drove it from date night and bluetooth completely quit on our hr ride home.

There are a couple ‘crazy mirror’ or ‘mirror freaking out’ threads on here. Welcome to the club. It’s either haunted or some random bit of program code that causes this. Out of all the responses I’ve seen on here no one has reported long term issues. It may not happen for a few weeks and then it will for two days in a row. I haven’t had it show up in my Navigator for a while now but now since I mentioned it I’m sure it will appear tomorrow... like mentioning beatlejuice or candy man or whatever.

I've already had a few bluetooth issues already that sound similar to yours, and also, sometimes it won't recognize a phone plugged in, have to hold down the power button and next track button and let it fully restart.

Honestly...a little upset with the quality of this car already...for being 75,000 MSRP its got some annoying issues.
So I will take it that there is no response on Ford about this issue? And to think...I almost bought a GLS450...

It prolli woulda been better to hold out till 2019. I understand mines was one of the first built, so issues isnt the problem, problem is dealers act like aint nuffin ever wrong n gives u back the car worse off. If their was somethin better than the expy i wouldn't have gotten mine. Only thing better is a minivan honestly and wifey aint havin dat.

It’***** or miss. I’ve read of owners having issues and then getting the ECM flashed or replaced under warranty and not experiencing anymore issues. I guess I got lucky with my build. It was built on December 22, 2017 which is just after one recall date range and just before another... right in the sweet spot lol. I can’t imagine how annoying having issues would be on a brand new vehicle.

Mine was built just before yours...but I have not been able to convince Ford to flash the PCM/TCM or whatever...they says its not necessary as the "issue was not replicated"....I FREAKING DESPISE THAT PHRASE NOW!

That sucks! Luckily for me I get the Lincoln dealer treatment and from what I’ve read it’s a huge difference.

Hence my small bit of regret for not buying a GLS450. (I didn’t like the push button drive controls in the Navigator...)

There has been six safety recalls issued by Ford for the 2018 Expedition models (although not very vehicle manufactured is affected by all six recalls).

I don’t think quality in the 2018 models was a priority for Ford.

Good luck. I own a 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4.

If you didn’t know what you were buying when you bought the first model year of a new vehicle, I don’t have a TON of sympathy for you. I completely understand being angry with poor dealer service, and I understand disappointment for the way the truck stacks up to your expectations, but none of this is terribly shocking. And as far as the recalls go, they’re all pretty minor...ask Toyota and Takata. If you wanted a perfect vehicle, you should have probably waited 3 or 4 years for Ford to get all the issues identified and smoothed out.

This was a completely new platform and system. Bugs are normal.

Think of a new iPhone and how “smoothly” those releases go. (Sarcasm).

I don't have a single issue with there being problems. I'm 100% upset with Ford's service department being apathetic about them or just blatantly ignoring the issues all together. To hear "You still have plenty of warranty left" or "We couldn't replicate that issue" or "That can be normal." is flat our infuriating. Especially when you feel like they are talking down to you and I am a doctor...not a moron. I bought Ford because I trusted them...moved from a 2000 Ford Explorer with 283,000 miles on it, have driven or still drive many Ford's over the years, including F150s, Super Duty's and Explorers. I've never been so disappointed in the respect shown to me after buying something that costs this much.

Huh - I didn't know about the power/next track vulcan neck pinch trick - thanks for that! Where did you read/hear about this, out of curiosity?

I also have the intermittent phone isn't recognized via USB problem. Sometimes switching the USB port works, but until the next trip the original USB port is "dead". Always comes back eventually of course.

About 3 days ago I switched the USB cable. I'm trying to see if it's a cable problem because the one I was using was a cheap knockoff. 3 days no issue so far, but I'll wait a few weeks before declaring this the solution.

I am 100% with you on that, perfectly appropriate feelings.

Ford has not made it a secret that they continue to introduce top level trims because people WILL cross shop them with luxury cars. A story recently I saw talked about that folks down here in Texas routinely come in to Ford dealerships looking for a truck instead of an S Class Merc; they are surprised they can’t spend more than a Limited F150. So Ford is aggressively going up-market to get these peoples’ business.

The problem is, you have the same service center dealing with someone that dropped $85k on an Expi and another that spent $12k on a Fiesta. And you can’t treat those two people in the same way if you expect to keep that top level of customer.

This is probably the most accurate description of Ford service I've ever read.

This mirror issue popped up a few months ago involving both mirrors. Doesn't do it every time. I figured that with so many Expy's having this problem that Ford service group would get together, put their heads together and find a fix.
