To my surprise I got a complete set of free floor mats from WeatherTech for Christmas for the Expedition via gift card. Ordered up a set of the cocoa colored ones for my 07’.

Any who own the 07-14’ Expedition set? How is the fit and finish and do they work well? Excited to get them, made in USA was nice to see as well.

We own a set for my wife's 2016. She loves them and had them in her 2007 Tahoe. I have a set in my 2008 Impala.

I also ordered her the cargo mat for the back of her Expy last night.

WeatherTechs quality and fit suck compared to what they used to be.
Still about the best option but no where near the quality they used to be.
Thinner, poor fit, poor design (at least for my last two models Toyota Sienna and now the Expedition).

But since yours are free can’t really complain.

Im not sure what mats I have in it now. I actually thought they were weather something but def not the same as what I ordered, not even the same brand or look. They suck whatever they are currently, ok in warmer months. Don’t really fit the shape well. I’ll have to look tomorrow.

Not something I’ve put much thought or research into.

I've heard rumors the weather techs condensate, and will cause issues not allowing the carpet to dry. I can not confirm or deny this, as I only have the 3rd row weather tech, and we haven't received any snow yet.

I have had weathertech’s in 4 vehicles now. The issue comes if the water gets underneath somehow (poor fit generally). There are little nubs on the bottom of the liners but there is really no airflow so yes if water gets underneath it will generally stay wet particularly in the colder weather.
I have never had water permiate thru the liner to the floor.
When we have snow for a week at a time I don’t even bother cleaning them up. The water will freeze and thaw multiple times in that week before I get around to using the shop vac to suck out the water and if I pull the liners it will be dry as a bone underneath.

Though my last two weathertech purchases have been poor thin quality so they deform substantially especially in the hot summer months but they tend to be dry so water getting over or around the edge does not happen much. But if the water gets in on the side of the liner yes it will stay wet.
Poor design is also the issue I had with the liners in the Sienna way to many gaps and holes around the middle captains seats. Now on the Expedition in the 2nd row there is about a 6”x6” square that is not covered at all by the liner and it is pretty much exactly where the kids step to climb in the vehicle so that is going to suck once we get some snow here.

For what its worth, I bought a cocoa set for an F150 with tan carpeting and immediately replaced the cocoa with black. Its a great color, but IMO didn't complement anything.

In my Expedition with 2nd row captain chairs, we replaced the individual 2nd and 3rd row Weathertechs with the one-piece #4710402 and couldn't be happier. Not sure when they started making this piece, pretty sure it wasn't available in 07/08 timeframe.

That you have pictured is even a new design of the one piece liner. I purchased mine in March. As you can see mine has a big 6”x6” square that has no coverage at all and in likely the worst spot possible. Exactly where the kids step to climb in.

Weathertech’s quality has become so thin that the heat of the summer and weight from stepping in and out will deform the Outside edges and give a very poor fit. These again were installed in March.

I had them in a 2002 Explorer and they were rock solid you could barely even fold them without some serious force and did not deform

I have them in a 2012 Highlander and you can fold them with less force and they don’t deform.

These liners for the Expedition and the Sienna, that I sold to buy the Expedition, are so thin you can roll them up with zero effort.
Thinner material heats up much quicker add body weight stepping in the middle and they cup and fit like crap after a few months of summer heat.

Mine is the camel interior so everything is tan and a bit of gray and chrome mixed in. Hoping the cocoa looks ok in it. I looked at the tan and it would have looked too monotone inside. Then I figured black would look out of place as nothing else is black besides the nav system. Cocoa was between the two so that’s what I ended up going with. I’ll post pics when I get them.

I see your cause for concern, some of the edges don’t fit all that well esp up front. Looks warped. Interesting you mention the quality difference from your explorer to the newer sets.

Dear Lord - [emoji33] - how old are your kids? [emoji23]

Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

5, 3, and 1 all boys. That is why pretty much every square inch behind the front seats is covered in some sort of waterproof material then graham ******* crumbs and who knows what else.

They fit perfect when installed but once we hit June with constant temps at or above 90 they started to cup in.
Had the Explorer for over 10 years and they never cupped like that. Had the Highlander for 4 years now and they aren’t cupped either but the material is noticeably thicker.

I have been buying Weathertech for a long time and WeatherTech is still the best option in my opinion. They have a good product but they used to have a great product and the loss in quality is a bummer but it sure beats replacing carpet.
Replaced the carpet in both my Mustangs and it is not a quick or easy job to have it look good. Weathertech still saves the carpet.

It wasn't asked but thought I'd share. After years of buying Weathertech's brand of cleaner/condition, I watched a youtube of a guy using Mop & Glo. 100% sold. Just wash the mats and let them dry. Quarter size dob of Mop & Glo spread around with a damp terry cloth & done. Look fantastic for weeks at 1/10th the cost and half the effort. And it smells nice, isn't slippery, and isn't a dust magnet like some other products I've used.

When I purchased my 2017 Ford Expedition Limited I also purchased the Ford floor mats for the Expedition. I feel they are better than all the others.

Simple Green and scrub brush here if the high power water hose nozzle does not do it.

WeatherTech Liners came for my 07’, got a few pics nothing extensive because the truck is pretty dirty right now. Vacuumed floors to put them in but upholstery and everything else need to be cleaned... I’m happy with them, they fit perfect and are nice and solid!

Will do, also happy with the Cocoa color, turns out it goes well with the darker grey dash panels.
