I have an 06 Limited that averages around 15MPG. Wondering if anyone with a second gen is getting anything better than that and if so have you done any modifications to achieve a higher MPG. Thanks in advance.

You are doing great........ my '04 (4.6) gets about 10 mpg.... never leaves city limits.

The only reason I know about mileage is my gas gage is faulty, and I use
trip mileage as a reference ....... # of miles driven divided by 10 tells me when to
fill up. Quite accurate. Expy wants more than a quarter tank to start, so I comply.

Wash & wax it ( it has the aerodynamics of a refrigerator...). Run about 40 psi in the tires. Don't drive over 70. Run synthetic 10w-30 oil in it. Should get 18-19 on the highway.

All the rust has removed a lot of metal
So I Got That Goin' For Me, Which is Nice.
I removed all the seats in the rear and the spare tire to make it even lighter.
I put a raw egg between my foot & the gas pedal.
Never use air conditioning
Removed the roof rack to aerodynamisize
I run 5W20 oil to get better gas mileage too.

My 04 EB is averaging 15.2 overall. I’m gonna try a K&N Air cleaner on next change. It seemed to get me better mileage on my 01.

  1. overall between 14 - 16 with the 4.6l. If you can run highway all seasons that helps some but not much.

I would like to ask is there a way to tune (electrically) this for better mileage......I also understand that doing a std. tune-up is very difficult...I am unsure when the plugs where last changed.....had mech remove a cpl and said they look new....MY mileage is no better than 12.9/mpg, with a 5.4v8....reg oil, 40psi, 20" tires....K&N filter, LIGHT FOOT, trying at least...

03 5.4 and if it's all city I average about 13 almost always between 12.5 and 13.5 though. Hwy loaded w the kids, both ac blasting, high about 15. Me solo, I've managed upper 17s on a 300mi trip for work.

It gets driven about 90% in town by my wife and being a smallish town there are stop signs/lights every 10 seconds it seems. It kills mileage quick. I had one tank where average was 11.3. Surprisingly the onboarding disay is quite accurate. When we first picked it up I would calculate manually, fill it, drive, fill at the same pump, etc. Every single time it's been within .2mpg of my math which is close enough to just trust it.

37psi in tires, 10w30 syn, no mods at all. Plugs were done about 15k ago by previous owner.
