We currently have a Limited Max and we love it. We are potentially in the market for a second suv and I want it to fit the family as well. The below are the current potential options and my thoughts and wanted to get some of your thoughts and advice.

- Nissan Armada - like but hate the outdated infotainment center
- Ford F-150 - I like but am undecided as I know a redesign is coming next summer
- Toyota Tundra - Outdated tech etc and redesign coming 2021
- Toyota Land cruiser - expensive

- Expedition

If I go the Expedition route I want to change things up a little from our current Max and go with something like the FX4 or get an XLT or Limited and then add some new wheels and tires.

Any other options you guys think I need to look at or if I go with a second Expedition, what can I do besides paint to change things up a bit?

Thanks!

The F-150 might be a good option if you think having the pickup box will be useful. Sometimes it is more useful than you expect it to be. It is a cheaper option than a similarly equipped Expedition as well.

If you need a big truck, id go the ram route. Itll ride as close to your expy moreso than the f150. If u like the current f150, theres gonna be huge discounts next yr when the new one comes, otherwise wait for the new ones lol.

If you need another suv, depending on your optuons you preferred, try used expy or nav swb. The 3rs gens are bulletproof, esp 09+ and they ride very well for old suvs. The land cruiser is nice but very expensive. Armadas are nice as well and can be had for considerably less than all your other options for the content.

I have a 17 F150 and a 16 Tundra ! Both are great trucks, the Tundra is bigger and roomier in the interior, and seems to be bullet proof, part of having outdated technology means having something tried and true and the Tundra is exactly that. Yep the Tundra needs a diff lock and a few other things, but its a great truck and the F150 is as well.

How tall is your family?

My family, with me at 6’7”, wife at 5’10”, 14yo daughter at 5’11” and my 11yo son at 5’8”, we felt like the F-150 had more room for us than the Tundra. I couldn’t fit in a Tundra, even with no sunroof, not nearly enough torso height. F-150 with no sunroof and I had inches above my head. Also rear leg room for me, sitting behind the driver (setup for me to sit in it), I had more leg room in the F-150. Trust me, I wanted the Tundra, but couldn’t even “make myself” fit. Land Cruiser was even worse than the Tundra. Armada was close to fitting, but felt both the F-150 and Expedition fit us overall better. And all the RAM trucks had a reinforcing bar in the roof that was perfectly positioned to hit my head, so those were out of our equation. YMMV

Thanks and this is great info. I really think I am down to another Expedition or an F-150 but hate to buy one now knowing the new version is releasing next summer.

Anyone ever owned at F-250 for their every day driver?

I had taken the bus 500miles away to purchase my FX4 it was only 2 within 500miles range 1.5m ago. Took it into the local dealer to replace one crooked FX4 badge and door adjustment. The service guy said my FX4 badge is aftermarket. lmao.

They seem hard to find. Do they drive any different than the regular ones due to the different shocks etc?
