500 miles and run full synthetic. At 5500 changed again and added 180 degree thermostat to complement my tuner and for other benefits

2014 Expy Limited 4x4, HD Towing package.

Change oil every 5K miles at dealer and then a tire balance & rotation at Discount Tire. The 5K mile oil change is something I have always done with conventional oil on all of my vehicles.

Another service question;
I now have 96K miles and tow a trailer with it very infrequently. When should transmission, rear end service etc. be changed or should it be left alone? Don't want to spend any extra money but wondering what others are doing.

10,000 when the oil life indicator was at 0%

Y’all are thinking too much. Next one will be at 20,000. The next probably 30,000 and so on.

I did switch to a full synthetic though.

So out of the dozen or so of you guys that have commented about this topic I would bet that 90% plus of any car owner (which would be millions of cars) that has an oil change monitor changes the oil when it gets to 15% which is what the little sticker says that they put on your windshield. Therefore I guess you will be buying new cars from now on.

Haha! Among my fleet I have a 2007 750i with 200k on it. Still runs like a banshee. Changed the oil every 15k. Zero engine wear issues. Other things not so... $4K per year in tires and miscellaneous repairs. Like owning a boat.

15% ??? You’re giving too much credit. I think most people who are not car people just wait until that check engine light comes on. Or they bring it in when their maintenance plan tells them to, + or - 1000 miles or whenever they get around to it.

Maybe so however as this is the wife’s vehicle and believe me she is not mechanically inclined she still handles taking it in to ford for the oil change because of that little oil change sticker.

My point was that most vehicles on the road have more than 5k miles on them between oil changes.
