Update all versions of Ford Sync 3 to the latest Sync 3.4

3.4 can be done on any Sync 3 system without doing the Firmware or having a new APIM using the Format Tool.

This is the process you should be following and files you should be downloading.

Just to be clear, there is a risk of bricking your APIM, and this is AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I mean, is really worth the risk of bricking your APIM for the 3.4 variant?

I have the 3.0 and is working smoothly.

For me, the main reason for doing it was the updated look. The 3.0 seemed so mid-90's in my opinion.

I am not 100% sure if you need to be on v3.4, but there is also an updated map database (v1.18). I rarely use the built-in Nav since I have everything setup in Waze, but I like the latest and greatest tech stuff. I am not a programmer, but I work in the IT field as a network design engineer and do a lot of beta testing for various things (Apple, Windows, network equipment vendors, etc.). I don't know if that means much or helps with your decision, but sometimes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

The bluish one is the Ford MY20 theme. It is basically smoothed out and less faux buttons.

The greyish bronze is the Lincoln MY20 theme. I don't know what the old look is for Lincoln, but I will be making a permanent change to it once my ODBII module gets delivered.

@Lou Have you looked at the ford blueish version in night mode yet? You should be able to set it in settings to stay on the dark theme regardless of the ambient light.

Yes, but since I have the Black Stealth interior, I like the more black-like theme.

I can confirm that map version 1.18 is available on v3.0 (on my 2018 Expy).

One thing that hasn't been fixed in v3.0 is the Waze speed being off by 10-20%. That is fixed in 3.4.

This Navigator theme you’re showing is practically identical to what I have in my 2018. The only difference is the addition of the ‘climate’ option and slightly smaller font on the bottom row of options. Apart from those two items there is no other difference.

Yes. It is more black with white accents and less dark bronze with gold/bronze lettering.

Hmmm...ok I think I might give it a go. Question on the maps. In the link they talk about UK and EU are NA maps included? I would hate to have to navigate to Big Ben or something lol.
