My 2018 limited my running boards will occasionally only go half way back up, any ideas?
When I close the door and hold my foot underneath it and apply pressure it will go all the way up, very close to taking them off looks stupid halfway down especially on a 70k truck!

When I picked up my new Expy the dealer told me that almost all the time the fix for running board problems is to hose them and the linkages off.

Clean and Lube! Seems to me i read someplace that they're not covered by Fords Warranty for the whole 3 years.

Several prior threads on this subject. They are a great feature but also come with maintenance baggage. They are prone to binding due to inadequate lube and/or grit and grime building up in the hinge points. The drive motors are sensitive to overcurrent, caused by binding/resistance, and set to reverse to prevent damage. If your driving in lots of dirty surfaces or freezing weather, be prepared for lots of TLC. My service advisor in MT, who has an F150, locks his in the retract position during winter. He says they simply weren't designed for harsh conditions. They have operated flawlessly here in AZ where we winter.

My passenger side had to be repaired soon after I purchased my rig - already amortized some of that extended warranty contract.
