Any insights ? Had to pop hood to see if Heater Fan or ? was broken ; very loud noise when using heater . If I hit OFF it stopped . In "A C " it did not sound at all ; but back on Auto for Heat it was loud again . Is this needing oil on fan ? Is there access from passenger feet side to oil it ? Have 118 000 kms ( 71000 mile s) , 2013 Expedition Max - fothco

Based on your description, either a fan blade is broken, or a blade is out of
adjustment, and hitting something. It is inconsistent for the fan to not activate
with AC on, if it activates with heater on.

Have never oiled a fan in any of the autos I have owned, and I have owned many.
I'm guessing, but I would imagine the fan bearings are oil-less, graphite impregnated.

HmHm - thak you for the reply and info . Yes , inconsistent problem but too noisy not to be alarmed , The sounds are as if a blade or a fan belt type slippage is happening . So , no simple lubrication can be done ... fothco . Retired in BC , Canada

Did you fix your problem? Same thing here. And i't getting worst with cold weather.

The fan was noisy at low, but making more and more noise now. Air is coming out of the vents though.

Mine (2008) was noisy and burned out the resistor that governs the slower speeds. I replaced the blower and the resistor.
