Has anyone ever really seen what the Black Label is advertised to have additional? I know all the additional dealer features, but I'm not sure on the actual features on the car.
It is awesome tho with the BL as EVERYTIME it goes in they wash and wax it, vacuums it, detail the entire interior, etc. My wife just likes taking it in for random crap so it comes home spotless in the winter! lol

We found this one locally used, so we never compared the Reserve or anything. I knew this had everything and the Tow Package and it had the exact interior my wife wanted, so it was a lucky find to grab it locally.

Going from tan interiors to black reminds me how much dust dirt and scratches black interiors show. Kinda wish I had kept looking for the light interior.

The bl is mainly just cosmetic compared to the reserve, but the interior cosmetics are very extensive. As far as features, nothing on the bl is available that cannot be had on a fully loaded reserve.

As far as ride goes, I would imagine the MAX rides better due to it's longer wheelbase. Things like that can be significant in terms of things. But ultra low profile tires on big trucks have always been a no-no for me b/c of how harsh they ride. They look cool on the lowered street scene cruisers.

YMMV

White tricoat just like my Expedition.

Its crazy that you can buy a Ford with the same color options as the Lincoln. Cadillac doesn't share their white with the Yukons, so to get the white Tri coat you always had to buy the Cadddy instead of the GMC. (not sure on the 21+ now tho)

When the time comes, the wife and I want to compare thenm side by side so we can decide which one would be a better purchase. From what I felt, the nav seems to have a smoother and quieter ride in most conditions, but the expy was far easier to use due to its buttons and control locations. I feel like the reserve and bl trims have a slightly different suspension tune because I see a lot of bl owners complain about the ride but those with reserve or select trims don't complain nearly as much.

I test drove a reserve with the same wheels/tires as my BL and the ride was the same.

I've taken my cold tire pressures down from 39 psi to 32 psi (no cargo or towing) and there was negligible improvement in comfort.

Hopefully my 20" wheels and Michelin tires will help.

That should work. Are you gettin the stock nav 20s or aftermarket? Its crazy why ford wouldn't improve on such a good foundation. My 09 nav had a really good ride, and we drove a 15 nav l with 20s and it was one of the smoothest cars I've driven. Both nav selects, 18 and 20, were also up there in ride smoothness. My wife said the 20 nav was better riding than the 21 yukon xl denali as well. Hopefully, the 22s improve on ride, which I'm sure they will. The 21 f150 has a Creamsicle ride, leaf springs notwithstanding.

I think the 22’s sharpen road feel / to steering feel slightly but ride quality is still pretty smooth. I have 22’s on the ccd Platinum. The Navi might be tuned slightly different but It seemed very close to the Platinum I bought.
I thought I would swap to 20’s but so far the 22’s have been pretty good. Getting more durable tires on the 22’s might impact ride quality but I’m going to try a set of BFG Advantage Sports LT tire see how it rides. Go from there.

With all of the talk about the newer Expys, my 2012 LTD must be a classic in these parts? I'm still getting used to the terminology. My Excursion(V-10) was named The EX. I have named this one the Ex. My son's Explore is the ex...

We took my wifes Navigator on 150 miles trip today. My 6 and 8 year old boys asked us why Dads car rides so much smoother! lol. You can't make this stuff up guys. Theres simply no comparison in ride quality between our 2. I mean MAYBE its my Hellwig sway bars, but honestly I could feel how much worse mine rode AFTER the sway bars. It tightened it up like a sports car, but it for sure stiffened the Expo.

Either way, they're both great vehicles, but I'm beyond disappointed in the harsh ride on the luxury brand. The seats in the Lincoln are 10X better no doubt. The Lincoln downshifts constantly on small hills, where my Expo never downshifts. They both run 3.73 gears, so its either lack of low end torque, or Lincoln tuned the trans much more aggressively. I even tried it in "conserve" mode and it downshifted non stop. I've ran this exact road many times in my expo and it will stay in 10th the entire trip and walk every hill in 10th. I assumed the HO would be more powerful, but it just feels like its got less grunt down low and ALOT more at high Rpm. It screams when you really hammer it.

The dealer just swapped the amplifier on the "noise canceling" BS, so we're hoping that's part of the cause of the excessive interior noise. The dealers "claim" they CAN'T turn that off. If thats what's making all this racket, I'll be baffled as to why Ford ever thought that was a good thing to pipe "drone" into the cabin. Time will tell, we didn't get it out on the interstate where it really bellers! Hopefully thats better......

You can turn it off with forescan.

Your noise complaints go against my own experience with my ‘18 reserve but these types of things are highly subjective.
As for the the head rest... mine is set all the way back, I agree with you on that complaint.

I have an 18 Black Label Navigator L 4x4 and an 18 Expedition Max 4x4 302A.

The Navigator in comparison rides very rough, you feel every seam in the road because its stiff as a board. The headrests in the Navigator force my head forward and give me a sore neck, the cam phasers have been done 3 Times on the Navigator and it just turned 20,000 miles. The Revel Speakers all screech on hi pitch songs if you turn the treble up over half, the second row passengers don't have a lot fo room to get in because the big bulky TV screens are in the way. The muffler bellers like an old Harley Davidson, its stupid loud for a luxury vehicle. The gross big touch screen looks like a 5 year old ate cheetos and then adjusted the radio, but its actually just my wifes fingerprints on it, so gross looking.

What I like, the 30 way seats (minus the damn headrests), the power, and that's about it.

I never drive the Navigator because in my opinion it rides like complete garbage. (both my vehicles have identical tires, identical wheel size, etc) We just went from WI to Miami and my wife and I BOTH chose to take my Expedition because it rides so much smoother and its SOOOOO much quieter. The muffler alone would give my wife a migraine after a couple hours of listening to it DRONE. at 80mph its just a steady "BLAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" noise that won't go away unless you let off the gas pedal. If it was mine (its my wifes), I would of traded it shortly after buying it. The HO 3.5 is stronger for sure, but its not worth the noise penalty.

something is terribly wrong with your Navi. My 20 rides like a marshmallow in conserve mode. Swallows everything. Even in excite mode it’s not the least bit jittery.

Zero “screech” in the ultimates and the thing is quieter than my tahoes, yukon, rover, Infiniti and Audi ever were. The rear entertainment IS garbage which is why I didn’t order them.

You got a lemon dude.

Definitely a person who is paid to give a bad review on online forums.

And to the OP, like others have said, if you loved your 18 Expy so much why did you get rid of it? I think I know why but we'll keep the opinion to myself.

Artie, I remember when I first got my Expo, you got your Navi. Other that cam fasers (spelling), I haven’t had a single issue with my Expo. Any issues with the Navi?

I traded in my Expedition because I’ve always liked the Navigator better, but couldn’t justify spending more on a “Ford” than what I paid for the Expedition. Nothing complicated. Just like Navigator better.

I want to know how that boat floats with the massive engine. Or is it one of the new, but rare, vertical float boats? But, overall, a great looking rig.
