Got the BuiltRight Industries Dash Mount and Support Plate installed today.

Decided to keep the pad on so got slightly longer screws stainless hex screws.

Love this thing! Have the dash mount, but haven’t installed because I was thinking of ordering the plate. Is the plate worth it?

What are some examples of things you plan to mount to this? Is the second picture from underneath, showing that you have to remove the top plate of the dash? Question, depending on what you mount to this (weight wise, etc), couldn't you use some self tapping screws and just screw the top plate down into the dash? Done right that would be pretty stable for lighter loads. Just curious.

Ooh nice!!! I wish auto makers would get with the program regarding power plugs for cameras in the headliner console and mounts like this for phones etc. Nice setup!!! Thanks for sharing

Can't go wrong with the plate. The mount is sturdy but the plate completes the bottom so the whole thing is a boxed frame. If not, swap the smaller washers with fender washers to distribute load around the holes.

RAM Mount balls and arms for cell phone, travel trailer rear camera screen, and dash cam. Yes, the 2nd pic is under the bottom of the dash tray. Self tapping screws would probably work for light loads. I'd put some high temp, extra strong double sided tape between the mount and the dash tray just for extra security.

Here are some more details:

Full picture of the bottom of the dash tray.
Holes were drilled to 3/16" instead of 1/4". The 10-24 screws fit perfectly with clean holes.


The three clips are located where each of the trim tools are. When popping it off, I placed a microfiber cloth between the tool and the surface to protect it from getting scratched.


What is looks like under there with tray off.

Thank you for sending this through. You have got me thinking of the same as I need a phone mount and Trailer Camera mounted up there but absolutely despise all of the wires. After seeing this I am thinking of running some wires underneath that panel into the USB/Power adapters in the center console.

Not sure if the things you want to plug in (obviously the phone would be) are 5V USB or if they need 12V, but I wonder if you could use something like this: Amazon.com: Dual USB Charger Socket Waterproof Power Outlet 12V/24V 2.1A & 2.1A for Car Boat Marine RV Mobile Blue LED: Electronics

It's obviously a large hole to cut in the panel but at least the plastic panel is pretty small so likely wouldn't cost a ton to replace if you messed it up. Use a Unibit to drill out the right diameter hole, mount this, and thread the wires through the dash to find 12V switched supply, fuse it, and boom, you have two USB ports up there. Just a thought.

Here's another option if you are a little phobic about drilling into your dash - I bought one of these and my rearview camera came with a mounting bracket so I just attached it to this and set it in the hole when I need it, the rubber mat goes back when I don't. The BuiltRight looks nice I almost went that route.

I thought about something like this to make it look clean and also to keep the factory USB ports free. On the product page, there are pics on how some people have installed power.

For now, I just have a 67 Designs phone mount on mine. Been playing with a RV specific navigation app that is not CarPlay capable.

Jury is still out on the app. Second option, may be a dedicated Garmin RV GPS device that will mount there.

BTW, I chose not to buy the plate. It seems stable enough for my needs. I’m not planning on mounting a tablet or laptop mount on it.

I have been wondering if dash tray would pop up like Kfordex8 pictured above, for my 2015? mine has main center and 2 smaller indents? It has 4 clips and pops off.

This instruction video they have was pretty helpful for me. I actually watched it before buying it.
