I was driving down to Maryland this morning and about half way through the trip, I noticed the instrument cluster go blank for a second and come back up.

When I looked down at it, to my surprise, I saw the actual engine temp displaying above the 2nd gauge along the top of the screen.

I thought that was pretty cool, but it disappeared just as quickly [emoji35].

Any idea as to why that happened or how I can get it back and display permanently?

Thx Bro DWs-TTEB

Yea it’s very strange as I haven’t done anything with Forscan. I don’t actually know how to use it lol [emoji23] It just happens outta the blue. Good to know that it’s a feature that can be added. Guess I’ll mess around with Forscan now and see if I can get it to come back.

Typically that pops up because its nearly overheating. What are the temps when it appears? I'm betting higher than they want them...

It showed up and said 238 degrees, that’s nowhere near overheating. The indicator line was actually a little below middle on the gauge itself.

But I guess that makes sense in an actual overheating situation.

1. It is coolant temp, not engine oil temp.
2. It could be that your engine was close to overheating. Do you remember the value? The only time that I have heard the values showing up besides firescan was hot engine situations.

@Deadman beat me to it.
238°F sounds hot to me.
About 212 is the hottest I’ve seen mine get, but our ambient rarely goes over 95°.

wakeboarder yes 238 is hotter than normal temps but I was doing 80-90 mph on hilly terrain and it’s 92degrees here today.

According to my research the temp shows up when it goes over 226. I have a 5Star tune on mine and am running 93 Street / Tow. I hear the fans kicking on all the time, even when the car is parked. That started after the tune and I did make mention of it to the 5Star guys.

I guess I’ll keep an eye on it, and see if it happens again. I also can’t find the operating temp specs for the engine to compare notes.

Your conditions are different than mine. My only hills are bridges and overpasses. I also drive slower.
