Bought new in 11/16,

I build high performance 2 stroke engines as a hobby so I'm pretty well versed in most engine related issues and how to keep them alive.

I buy my own oil and have the Grease & Go change it for me for 30-40 bucks.

I used the Ford syn 5-30 until 60K then switched to the same Mobil 1 syn 0-40 that I use in my supercharged car. My oil is changed on time, every time. Nothing is more important to the life of an engine than clean oil, period. I could do a little Mobil 1 commercial at this point by posting pics of 200K mile cams that appear to have less than 30K on them, but I won't.

After having the rear begin to "clunk" for a while at 38K, I replaced the rear grease & added the "Ford additive" and filled with Mercury Quicksilver lower end grease= "Clunk" gone.

At 60K I checked the front brakes and rotated the tires for the 2nd time, no action taken.

Spark plugs were replaced around 75 or 80K. They were wasted. HEI's take their toll on plugs.

At 92K, I replaced the original tires with stock tires....why wouldn't I, their rain performance is good and the originals lasted 92k and I corner it hard.

I also had them replace the rear brakes at that time.

The Throttle body is original and has been cleaned 3 times and it's due again. I use MAF cleaner.

I use motorcycle chain oil on my running board motors/linkages once or twice a year, no issues at all of course. If you know how this stuff works, you will know it's perfect for this application.

At 117K I replaced the front rotors and brakes, searching for the cause of a hard "wobble when applying brakes hard from high speed. It made no difference at all....still chasing the cause. Remember, I am an "engine guy"...with no clue for this....Experts? Is there a steering stab?

Broken things;

1- center console hinge spring. Replacement cost used on fleabay- 35 bucks!
1 or 2 rear tail light bulbs

Nothing else, nothing!

I am getting an average mileage of 18.5 since new(I left one of the tripmeters alone) and most tanks still return 19 mpg if I'm in a relaxed mood....18 is what I see if I'm not....lol

The truck still has great power probably because it's never used(LOL).....I run it through the gears once in a great while but I've got 6 other tagged vehicles that will all dust this truck so there's no real point in beating it like I stole it.

I've d/l'ed but never installed the updated Sync so I'm beginning to see some map issues..like new roads not being shown, etc....but my display works perfectly as does every other item in the truck.

I never wash my truck but the inside stays immaculate. I like a clean interior so I use the rubber mat on my side for everyday driving and my carpet floor mat as does my carpet still looks brand new. I say I never wash my truck but actually did this past Sunday, the 1st time in 2 years.

I park my truck under a canopy but tend to hit the post on the inside when parking...but the Magic Eraser deleted 95% of my sins and the paint overall is awesome.....hardly no dings, no chips, even on the front of the hood! There are two chips in the Magnetic dark grill and one on the front lower cowling that has been there forever....that's it, in 120K of highway miles mostly. I guess that extra 800 bucks we paid for the "Titanium" paint was an actual value?

This is my 3rd expedition. I have my choice in what I drive and I chose to buy each of them over any other reasonable vehicle available. My kids are all long grown and "mostly" gone. I drive them because I won't die if hit and a full sized motorcycle fits inside of it in a pinch(I hate pickups). I've been telling Kerry for years, size matters.

I've logged over half a million miles driving them and this one is the best by far, in every respect.

Just my experience, yours may differ............and I may be back next week crying that my tranny broke....but for today, "it's all good".

You are a lucky guy with your 2017. I just purchased a 2015 Limited EL and it needs some TLC. The drivers side mirror was hit and needs to be replaced. And the drivers side running board motor was hit and needs to be replaced. I do have a little shutter at low speeds, still after changing the plus (has 108K miles), so I got a scanner to determine if I have a bad coil pack. I hope I can get the miles that you have had with yours with this new one. Prior to this I have had 3 Tahoes and 1 Suburban and all but one of the transmissions died at 125K. All company vehicles, all well maintained. WE shall see. When I replace the running board motor, I will try your cycle oil on the joints. Sounds like a good hack for the car.

I'm at 120,734. To date, I've done 1 throttle body; head gasket (dealer under warranty); spark plugs (me cursing the entire time); all four brake pads and rotors (myself). Great towing vehicle. Averaging 15 mpg. Our driving is interspersed with towing and idling. Great vehicle for what we use it for, but I'm dreading owning it outside of warranty! When my wife finishes her master's I might go ahead and tune it.

We bought our 2015 EL Limited in November 2020 with 106,000 miles. Now at 111,000 miles. I've done oil & filter plus engine air filter. Runs great, get 19-ish MPG. I've got some Check engine codes I should have addressed, and probably the spark plugs, too.

The wobble during heavy braking may be worn bearing in a front hub. I put 300K miles on a 2004 Expedition and the hubs needed to be changed every 100k - 175k. Jack up the front. if there is noise / grinding when you spin the wheel or a little side to side play if you grab and shake, replace the hub.

We're halfway there, having just turned 60k on our '17, and have really enjoyed it for long road trips. But for a daily driver around town, there are a few frustrations that come to mind:
1. Glitchy screen. I suspect this is due to shifting into reverse before the computer has fully booted, but as my wife says, "Who has the kind of time to wait for that!"
2. Map update from Ford is over $100. Makes it really tempting to cross my fingers and go with the CyanLabs update.
3. Drive by wire throttle delay. Now that we're out of warranty on the drive train, and with a couple near-misses under my belt, I'm tempted to shell out the $500 for engine tunes that will allow the vehicle to respond immediately when the accelerator is pressed.
4. Red rear turn indicators. Statistics show vehicles with amber turn indicators are hit less, yet with the delayed throttle response and despite this statistic, Ford gives the Expeditions get amber turn indicators but our Expedition rear flashers are red. I've been looking into converting the reverse lights to switchable white/amber LED to solve this, but the bulbs I found are larger and I'm scared of ruining the expensive lens when I attempt to modify it to fit the larger bulb assembly.
5. We've got a serious rattle in the front, which I think is the air compressor for the suspension - it comes and goes. It's been there so long we thought it was normal. But at the last oil change (we sprung for Ford's extended service package) the dealer commented on it as something we should have checked out. Gee thanks - would have been nice for you to have brought that up while it was covered under warranty!

No rattles are normal.

Thanks Stephen and WTTC!

This wouldn't surprise me, I do corner it much harder than most occasionally. Key to driving an expy fast is to "turn it early". I drift it in the mornings coming to work and even is it isn't "set", it's cornering hard.....hell, Kerry drifted the Tail of the dragon, at night, in the fog.....no it's wasn't intentional, she kept overcooking corners ....a most terrifying experience from the passenger seats perspective.

Yeah, I think I'll slip the lift under it and see what's up with them....it sure makes sense that the front suspension should need some attention and you've got Train vouching for your suggestion and he seems to know this stuff pretty well......& we don't take away points just b/c he's still on LI.

LOL
