To Sell or not to Sell...

I have a 2019 Expidition Max with the cam phasor issue that the dealer wont fix or at least makes up excuses. Last one a couple weeks ago was that Ford was coming out with a software fix... So, my question is do i sell it given i can pretty much get what i paid 2 years ago which is really unheard of, but supply and demand, or do i hold knowing that i will have to wait possibly a year until i can buy another, non ford, SUV? I do have another car i can drive, but my son will be turning 16 in Jan so we will be competing for it then and i dont think this supply issue will be over by then. My guess.
So, thats my delema. I do have the 100k extended ford warranty so im not overly concerned about it blowing up other than it leaving me stranded somewhere, but im really not a fan of this SUV or the ford service and am kicking my self for not going with the Suburban.
thoughts?

If you rele dnt like it and can make ur money back, sell it. I'm telling you though, there's no other suv in the class better, to include even the new gms.

Sell if you don’t like. I disagree on no other similar. Just go a 21’ denali for my wife…..it’s very nice. Different, but nice. I’m very happy with my expy, but would do an AT4 without hesitation if that’s what I wanted.

Is there another dealership in the area to get the cam phaser repaired? Once it is broken, there is not a software patch to fix it. The software patch (from what I read, correct me if my kids fo is wrong) will crank the engine a little longer before it starts to help build the oil pressure in the phaser to prevent it from breaking in the first place.

I personally would not sell, I love the expedition, and in my opinion the chevy/gmc stuff is just ugly.

As another poster mentioned, it seemed to him that the largest dealer in his vicinity had a priority for repair parts due to the volume they ordered. If I had that problem, and I still may eventually, I'd take mine to the big dealership a significant distance away; even if it required a significant wait time.

I love my Expy, it has been amazing so far. I picked it because of the room, towing numbers and the EcoBoost. The old saying "there's no replacement for displacement" is gone in the modern engine world. I don't live and play at sea level. That being said, if I get the cam phaser problem I won't be surprised or upset. I knew it was a problem and the Expy fits my use case scenarios perfect. I don't mind any of the other SUV's and when its time for me to trade in or up. I will pick what ever has the best room, towing numbers and power plant not the brand name. If your Expy is not fitting the bill, dump it. I personally am scared ****less to buy anything manufactured during the COVID HANGOVER. The 2022's look like they will still be part of the part and people problem. I just bought a John Deere garden tractor. I had to wait 6 months to get it because of the hangover. It is having engine trouble at 6 hours on a platform that is tried and trued for well over a decade. :(

Thanks for the comments, i listed it this morning. Its my wifes car and shes sick of the Dealership hastles on the cam phaser thing and we had a similar issue when trying to get the front struts replaced when they leaked at 5k miles. She also doent think we need an extended version so that opens up some more options other than a Max or suburban.
To answer some of the questions above about tring other dealerships, we have, 3 to be exact. Any others would be an hour or two out for us and we are not driving that far for car repair.

If your looking a ideas for a replacement, check out the jeep wagoneer or grand cherokee l. I love the interiors, and wagoneer almost matches the space of the expy max. If you think she'd like something smaller, the new acura mdxs are rele nice as well. My wife wants one.

planning to avoid the dealership, I’d avoid the Jeeps, especially a first year model.

I am interested in the Grand Wagoner as it claims 9850lbs tow. Interior is awesome and big. I just need to see it in real life. One pics it looks cool. Others it looks like a bloated liberty and no turbos or supercharger. I can see them putting the hellcat motor in one very soon.
