First dealer has been fired. Went to another and it couldn't have been easier. No bs $500 paint protection. They were upfront and gave me a price. Ordered a silver Limited 4x4 302a high package and hd towing all on x plan. Now I wait.

The only way I was able to order was at retail with the dealer agreeing to make the price adjustment to X-Plan upon arrival. Of the 10 or so Ford dealers in the Dallas area I talked to, half wouldn't honor the X-Plan, some would only honor on XLT or below and the rest said they had to have the invoice to provide the X-Plan price and it had to be ordered at retail and price adjusted on arrival. So I ended up ordering a 22 Limited Stealth at retail with the dealership near my home that I've bought several trucks from over the years, all on X-Plan. The GM of the dealership signed the order and wrote "price will be X-Plan", which doesn't mean squat. With no deposit, if they don't honor the X-Plan price when it arrives, I'll walk away. Amazing the dealers can't be honest these days when dealing with discounts.

I sat down at the dealership when I placed my order, they logged in to the Ford internal order page, inserted my "X=plan" pin to verify I was eligible, and proceeded to create the order. My paperwork clearly shows all internal plan costs, plus estimated (all Ford prices are subject to increases, yet not always passed to the customer) retail price, at the bottom of my order. I have a pretty close idea what I'll be paying vs estimated retail. Regardless, it's 2% over actual dealer cost (part of the paperwork submitted to Ford requires copies, which I'll see as well), Ford will kick back an additional 6% to the dealer for taking the special order, or X-plan sale at that time.

After stewing on this over the weekend, today I called Ford's AXZ Program department and explained what I experienced and they confirmed this is unfortunately a common practice these days given the market conditions and suggested I go back to the dealer, which I did on the way home. Once I explained I'd talked to Ford, the sales guy quickly went to the back office and another manager returned and called me into a side office. He apologized for the "confusion" and quickly updated my order to be X-Plan and provided me the print out of my order showing X-Plan cost and retail at the bottom of the order.

I really appreciate you guys and this forum! Now the waiting game begins.

How much is the x/plan saving over msrp?
Price depends on the MSRP, essentially you are getting the car at 2% over true dealer "cost". Ford then kicks back money to the dealer after the fact to make them whole for taking the X-Plan in the first place.

Bill, so basically I get a better deal than xplan from Granger Ford in Iowa who offered me 3% below invoice pricing.

Dealer "invoice" is not true dealer "cost", a dealer will not sell a car for under their cost. More than likely discounting off "invoice" will still net them 7-10% once they factor in their own volume level discounts from Ford Corp.

I placed my order on 1/24 and just realized I qualify for X-plan as a Ford shareholder. How likely is it that the my dealer will retroactively add X-plan pricing? And could that impact my place in line for my order in any way (I have not been scheduled)? I wanted to check here before reaching out to the dealer (who has been great to work with) and completing the X-plan paperwork.
