I apologize in advance because I know someone has likely already posted about it... but I can't find it through the search or Google dorking to save my life.

Bought a used 2020 Expedition Max Platinum and there is a large empty space on top of the dash, centered, right in front of the B&O speaker. What is the purpose of that open cubby? Is there supposed to be a liner? Ours is just empty plastic - PO seems to have removed all rubber liners, floor mats, etc. Very annoying.

Thanks in advance!

There should be a molded rubber liner--flat on the bottom with maybe 3/8" flaps up all sides
Ok that makes sense, as otherwise I can see like weird injection molded imperfections (or whatever, I'm not an automotive engineer). Now to figure out what the part number is for that... thank you.

Might want to consider this mount rack in place of buying the replacement rubbe mat:
I installed this and put a phone holder on the mount, works great....

Not sure what your trailer backup camera looks like but assume it would work great. Lots of room for several mounts. Hope it works out!

I also installed the BuiltRight tray rack, with the backer plate. Highly recommend.
I have an iPad / phone mount on it and a quick disconnect mount for my RV camera when towing.
Also installed a 12v power receptacle and USB power in the tray. Very clean. Makes a wasted space into a nice addition.

Do you have any pictures of your setup?

I see that this is an old post, but I have a BuiltRight out of my totaled 2019. Let me know if interested. I might even have the rubber liner lying around, too.

The BuiltRight won't work in my 2022 since they changed the dash on it.
