I found a really good deal on a 98 EB 4x4 with a 5.4. I will be picking it up tomorrow and look forward to getting it set up for summer vacation duty so I can pack my family, all our bikes and gear to the mountains. I will also use it to get to work when the weather doesn't permit me to ride my motorcycle. If anyone has tips on what I should be looking for, I would appreciate it. I haven't owned a Ford in several years, but consider myself mechanically inclined.

Welcome aboard. Ball Joints are an issue, if they haven't already beeen replaced. The other biggest issue is the overwhelming desire to lift them, and add huge tires!!!!

Dealer serviced by an older guy that was VERY well off. He and his wife used it to get to their mountain home in Virginia. It just had new coil packs, plugs, tires, windshield, and front/rear brakes installed within the past 2 months. He also has a folder about 2 inches thick from all his receipts for maintenance.

I am thinking about a 2-3 inch lift with some 265/70/17 terra grapplers. I don't want to get to crazy............... yet.:D

I got back tonight with my Expedition, and it was a long day. The truck is great, the motor and trans are in excellent shape. The truck does need a little work however (has anything that sold on the internet ever been 100% as described:confused:). The drivers side front window doesn't work, so I will probably end up installing a new motor and regulator. The cruise control power button seems to be stuck, and the power mirrors don't work. I did get 16.5 mpg from Oklahoma City coming back to Fort Leonard Wood. So that was a pleasant surprise. I look forward to putting on a roof top cargo basket and installing some rear spacers and cranking the torsion bar.
