Switching to Amsoil fluid voids the transmission warranty?????

Hello friends,
2024 expedition with the 10 R 80 and have read several places here to do my first fluid change at 30,000 miles and switch to the superior Amsoil transmission fluid.

My dealership service advisor said that switching fluids could void my extra care warranty. If any issues came up as the first thing they’re gonna do is test the fluid.

Clearly, the Amsoil fluid meets all the OEM requirements so why would using something other than the Motorcraft fluid void my warranty?

Any experience or advice here? Thank you very much. Bob

As long as the new oil meets and or exceeds manufactures oil spec for this tranny, I smell Bull*hit all over the place. I also change my own fluids on my 24. 30k is a bit early fo me… I do my trans fluid around 50k miles on all the cars. You tow a lot or something?

The transmission failed in my 2015 Expedtion Limited 4x4 while covered under the Ford Premium Care ESP. Ford required the dealer to remove and disassemble the transmission before repair, to determine the failure point(s).

About 10,000 miles prior to the failure, the transmission fluid and filter had been changed at the same dealer using Ford Motorcraft fluid (not flushed).

I do not know if the dealer tested the fluid to determine if it was not the required type when the transmission failed, or if the prior service record was sufficient? The fluid was changed prior to Ford’s recommendation transmission service interval. I did not tow with the vehicle, only passenger use.

Does the Amsoil transmission fluid meet the Ford specifications? Why would you change from Motorcraft fluid to another brand?

I almost always use OEM filters, fluid, parts, etc. on all of my vehicles (Ford or other manufacturers) - especially if under the manufacturer’s warranty and a manufacturer's extended service plan.

I don’t see where you’d have a problem, if you keep your receipts and the fluid meets Ford’s specification.

you can use the fluid you choose, so long as it's the same spec as factory.
They can't void your warrantee for doing your own service, but they can void it if they find you did the repair below standards. i.e. tried to hold the pan with duct tape and RTV instead of using the proper bolts and gasket.

30k for a transmission is early. even for heavy duty towing, the recommendation is closer to 50-60k. And if you don't tow, i'd stay away from touching the transmission if it's working fine. these things can quickly develop problems you didn't have before by making small changes.
