We've finally worked out what is causing the misfiring in my Expy 5.4L V8.
Both the Left and Right Cam shafts are worn and causing big misfire issues. The car has been out of action for a few months now.

The issue is (becaue it's part of a batch due to go to the middle east, but didn't) the car does not "exist" on the Ford systems so the VIN (1FMJU1H5XFEF03802) does not help. I bought a 2014 pair of cam shafts from Rock Auto and sadly they do not fit. (Since there is not 2015 V8 model in the US, usually 2014 parts fit fine).

All I have left is the numbers printed on the old cam shafts which may make it possible to find a matching pair? (9F-9L3E-6251-CA and 590147648)

If anyone can help me identify the matching cam shafts I'll buy them again and work out how to ship them here to the UK.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't think this is your issue. that cam doesn't look that chewed up. Can you feel any grooves in the cam lobe? What cylinders are misfiring?

Hi there - you can't see in the photo but the cam is quite chewed up in places and the misfires are either random or based around cyclinder 3 - which is where most of the cam wear seems to be! I hope that is the problem as I have 2 new cams arriving in a couple days!

How do the roller followers look for that cylinder? When I took mine apart, I had some that the needle bearings were visibly worn. FordtechMakuloco on youtube goes into great detail on our 5.4.

I still contend that the issue may be ignition or fuel related. Unless you saw broken parts on disassembly for that cylinder. Then it would be a constant misfire. Good luck in your journey and keep us posted.
