Emergency truck replacement!

Road trip from Houston Tx to Muncie In. and back in a 2000 expy with 5.4. Got to Mo. and stopped at a traffic light. It turned green and the truck would not move.
Reverse worked but not forward. I checked the linkage and it was good. I googled possible causes and it said either a solenoid or the forward clutch pack is shot.
It had 280K miles on it and i was a long way from home in a tiny podunk town. I elected to cut my losses. I wanted another Expedition, so I had 2 local options. Solid black @$40K and a white 2024 King Ranch at $61k. ouch! I didn't want a black truck, so now I'm the proud owner of the 2024.
Are there things I should look out for? V6 turbo motor and 10 speed trans. 4wd.

not really anything at all... Just do the service intervals at Fords “severe” schedule and you should be good.

What he said. I bought the ESP on my Navigator, and about 2 months after the factory drivetrain warranty expired, the front dif required replacement. It was a $4,500 job. Cost me my $50 deductible. All this within 3 months of owning the Lincoln. So yeah, well worth it.

GTS. All kinds of options available. I’ve permanently disabled that feature on both my Lincolns. Plenty of threads here about it.

There is a button somewhere on the dashboard that, if pressed, will disable this incessant nuisance. Sorry, I can't do better on the location. On our '23 Limited, it's underneath the infotainment screen next to the flasher button. The problem with that is it needs to be repeated with each engine start. Eventually it gets to be routine (mostly). There are aftermarket Auto Stop/Start eliminators.

The button on your dash has an image resembling an 'A' You do have to push it every time you start the car and that 'A' lights up. That can be tough to remember to do every time you start the car, so you can go to Auto Stop Eliminator.com on the world wide telegraph and you can get a jumper, or pigtail or whatever you want to call it that you can install in line with that switch to have that switch engaged all the time. I'm not an extremely handy person and it took me 10 or 15 minutes to install one in my 2020 Expedition and about the same in my Wife's 2021 Honda Pilot. Your starter motor will thank you.

If you have the BFS (big #* screen), my '24 MAX LTD has the button to the lower left of the screen. Unfortunately, one of the few real buttons. I've had mine for 5 months and I still don't like that BFS. Anyway, I bought the ESP too, and I went with 10 years. Sooo many motors and electronics. I chalked the expense off to being OK since it was way less than I got for my '14 EL LTD.
I'm really happy with my '24 though, and the BFS is just one of those things you put up with...

Not just your starter motor, your engine will also thank you. There are many tests online that show engine wear is much higher due to the constant start/stop, emissions may be reduced overall, but it really impacts the engine lifetime.

You might try running in tow mode all the time. Tow mode will lock out the stop/start, and so will sport mode.
But, running in tow mode will allow the trans to run thru the gears without "skipping" gears as it will do in eco mode. Better for the trans........The only reason for eco mode is so the trans skips gears to get to a higher gear faster, which lowers rpm's which will supposedly save you fuel.....
Eco is supposdially going to save fuel, and maybe running in tow mode might use a bit more, but not what I would consider a significant amount.
Had a 2021 Ranger for almost 5 years and now the Expy and have never ever run either in Eco mode....always used tow mode unless I wanted to "play" in which case Sport Mode was used (and it also locks out the stop/start
