misfire and dies

Newbie to Ford here. I have a '99 Expedition 5.4L with an intermittent misfire, will happen at idle or under load. Also it dies when coming to a stop. Sometimes it won't start back up right away. I noticed the tach doesn't move while cranking when it won't start.
The only code I have is P1000 on the KOER test. Also when it restarts after it dies, the idle races.
I appreciate any help.

I had a misfire problem with my 2000 (4.6L), and I ended up replacing all 8 of the coil packs. It's costly, mine cost $69 per coil pack, but you could give that a try.

A little late, but oh well...

There is a recall or service bulletin for that engine where the pores in the metal are letting oil seep into the plug area. Causing them to misfire.

I'm having the same problem with a 4.6

try cleaning the IAC
