Hello---new to the forum---new to the Expedition ownership

Just purchased a 2005 XLT expedition--former police undercover unit---but well equiped---4wd, HD tow pkg, massive run flat tires, leather interior, power seats, heated and a/c seats, 3rd row 60/40--and not too chopped up from removal of police equipment

Excellent shape and only 8,500 miles on it---clean carfax---got it for a steal on price ($17,300 USD) because of ex police unit---so worth some grief to bring it back up to civillian fit and finish after removal of police equipment

I have an issue with the 3rd row seating---appears they removed the power fold switches for the third row seating---I can buy the switches easy enough---but after pulling it apart I can not see any pigtails in behind the interior trim panels, or even cut harnesses that would have run power to them. Leads me to think they were never installed in the vehicle, but seems odd that they would put the power 3rd row in and not the electrical (at least the pigtails or wiring harness being present behind trim panels)

Is anyone else aware of if there is a special police model run by ford where they do not install the wiring harness, but do install the poer 60/40 leather 3rd row seating?

Has anyone else run into this issue? If so how did you remedy---looking for suggestions

Worst comes to worst out come the wrenches andI will remove the third row altogether---but wanted to see if there was a relatively straight forward solution before resorting to somplete removal

They are definately power seats

They both have electrical motors on them and there is no way to manually have them fold down that I have been able to find

Without them being able to fold down the rear cargo space is limited to the 6" or so behind the third row seating

I would suspect that the switches were removed then..... The harness has to be in there behind the hole where the switches are somewhere....

That was my thoughts too---however after literally ripping out the entire interior clear through from the tailgate to the passenger doors I have yet to find a connector, a pigtail, or even hidden cut wires amongst the harnesses that are there

Has me baffled and the only thing i could think of was perhaps ford did a special police production run where the harness was not included

that is the wierd thing---the actual toggle buttons are there, 4 of them---but the functional switches are not, nor is the wiring behind them

2 buttons in the rear behind 3rd row on passenger side and 2 on driver side between the 2nd and 3rd row seating are present---I do not think it would be normal to put the buttons there but nothin in behind them---if it was a faceplate to cover holes for an option the vehicle not equipped with then it would make sense

Bingo!!!!

That was the answer---wire harness was burried in behind the dash---I re-routed it back to where it shoud be and everything works great now like original facotry intent

I would never have thought of looking for a dozen eggs in the bedroom "so to speak"

Many thanks for your insight on this

Regards

Karl
