Hey guys, i am a newbie to this board. we bought a used 98 EB expy and the gearing is stripped in the driver seat so it won't go forward or backward. i am going to look at some auto junk yards for a new seat. but what i am concerned about is the elecrical hookups. i know some years have heated seat and from looking at them the connectors are different from mine. has anyone replaced their seats and customized the wiring to make it work? thanks

I have 98 as well, had exact same problem as yours... big problem is dealer could not tell which one of 2 different power seat/track mechanisms I had without removing it from vehicle. He could not tell from the VIN number either. Evidently, they desigend an "improved" seat mechanism for 98 after the first year in 97. You CANNOT buy just a seat track, as the track and motors (3) are all one Ford part number. Since dealer wanted 600-700 plus labor, I found new track/motor assembly from OEM Ford parts dealer online and replaced it myself. Just unbolt seat from floor, detach electrical plugs, swap out track from seat, and plug her back in.
TO MAKE IT WORSE, THE FORD ESP PLAN COVERS POWER SEAT MOTORS, BUT NOT THE TRACK, BUT ITS ALL ONE PART NUMBER, AND ITS NOT A COVERED PART. RIPOFF!!!!!:troll:
