Having bad luck finding HID's that last more than three months at a time. Does anyone have any suggestions, and if so how long have they lasted?

Thanks in advance!

I bought the $35 HIDs from E-bay and haven't had any issues for over 3 years. Granted, I don't use the lights all that much. I have done a friends Jag and he has had nothing but issues with one set of his lights. The other set we installed have worked almost flawlessly for a year.

The big thing to keep in mind is that HID bulbs/ballasts like as much voltage as you can give them. So, using a separate relay harness powered directly off of the battery is best. If you are powering them through the factory wiring, that is very possibly where you problem lies. The headlight switch is starting to go and it is dropping too much voltage to be good on the ballast which is leading to the ballast failing, therefore the problems you are seeing.

Also, look at the way that you grounded the ballast. If you don't have a good ballast, again, this is causing the ballast not to get the highest voltage it can get, leading to the ballast working harder and failing sooner.

the ebay lights are ok I here they are getting more reliable but for me if your switching to HID's its because you want quality lighting. HID's are not made for reflector housings and you will never get the lumens that your halogen gave you. anyway rather than me typing for hours here is a thread everyone thinking of HID's should read.

If your buying from ebay or companies like DDM tuning, Xentec, ect then if your having problems there is nothing to complain about, thats what happens when you buy a communist copy of a product.

DDM Tuning is the way to go. I got 2 sets from them and they last. You can also get a lifetime warrenty for very cheap.
