torsion bar adjuster broke...

ok so went to get dinner just a bit ago and as i was turning back down my street i hear a loud pop and felt the truck lean to the passenger side i got out and notice the passenger side was sitting lower then it should so i crawled underneath and this is what i found...


somehow the torsion bar adjustment thing snapped and shot the bolt out and i found the bolt laying out on the street... i feel lucky as hell becuase it stayed sort of in place i dont wanna know what woulda happened had it come completely out..
anyone know how i go about getting a new bolt and the broken piece also im assuming i need a tool to unload the torsion bar....

ok so i cant seem to just find the broken part but i can get new torsion key kits that have the keys bolts and adjuster on RockAuto.com for $154.89 made by raybestos do any of the cheaper keys like on Ebay come with the screws and adjusters???

Kevo, give a call down to Buckley, WA and give "Walt and Vern's" a call. They should have the part you are after. I have used them when I lived in WA and they are good people. The same part is used on all 4x4 Expys (97-02) and F-150's (97-03). They should be able to get you out the door for under $20.

As for replacing that part. Odds are, you are going to need a 2 jaw bearing puller or a "torsion bar removal tool" (looks a lot like a 2 jaw bearing puller). It will grip on to the lips of the crossmember and allow you to put the load on the tool vice on the pieces that are broken. I would also recommend putting atleast the front end of the truck in the air so the tires are off the ground. This will minimize the amount of stress on the parts as you pull out the old pieces.

im familiar with walt and verns the only issue i have with wrecking yards is that i would have to go underneath in the nasty death mud to get to that part unless they pull it for you?

me either i found the bolt and the head was sheared off maybe someone tried cranking it up previously and damaged it?

Kevo, Walt and Vern pulls all the parts for you. Worst case, you have to pay them a few extra bucks and they will pull it for you. When I got my window regulator through them, they had boxes upon boxes of regulators sitting in their warehouse. No crawling around for me.
