My dad drives a 2005 2wd drive expedition in the michigan winter. Its not the snow that will get you its ice. You have no control on ice with 4x4 or 2wd. You would be fine with a 2wd put 200 pounds of weight in the back and don't be stupid.
It has heat but probably not as much as it should. I should probably replace it anyways, I have 177xxx on the clock and its never been done. It looks easy from what I have read online.
Thanks for the help. I will report back if it worked or not.

I have a 2001 5.4L expy. As the weather has gotten colder, I noticed the temp gauge is only reaching 1/4 of the way up the range. When usually it reaches 1/2 of the way. This is after driving 20 minutes, there is still heat and all the fluids look good. Could it be a sensor?
Thanks,
Calvin
As a kayaker myself, I see height being a problem if you are holding it vertically on your hitch. They make holders that have rollers on the back and just lift the tip up there and then slide it on. (you can use a welcome carpet to protect the paint)
jstrut: I have the xlt version so it is the tube running boards. Thanks for the input though, I'm located in GR.
Jay: It is bent Downwards, a tire went up on the running board and forced it down. I think I am going to try to bend it back up and if it works great, if not I'm taking them off.
The drivers side running board is bent down. From a accident:gr_guns: that happened a while back. I am looking to try and bend it back, anyone ever try this? I will get pictures later.
Hey Everyone,
I have been having a creak when I turn the wheel and every time I hit a pothole or bump. I believe it's the ball joint since they are original with 166K on the clock. Is there anyway to test and see if its the ball joint or what other part it may be? It is only on the drivers...
Hello Everyone,
Last night my passenger window fell down as I was putting it down, It tilted forward and then fell into the door. I have removed the door panel and made sure everything was intact. I have found the the linkage between the inside handle was stuck in one of the clips that hold...
I have a leaking differential and am wondering since its a lifetime seal if I could take it to ford and have them fix it or am I sol and fixing myself.
Its an 01 with 160xxx
Thanks

I have mounted 2 kayaks on top to my expy. My dad made a homemade rack out of 2*4 and I believe it just straps to the cross bars and then the kayaks on to that with bungee cords and ropes running to the front tow hooks and to the trailer hitch. Didn't go anywhere at 70mph. I'll try to get them...
I got the same kit and there is no top or bottom on those springs. Maybe I installed them the wrong way but I haven't had any problems with the ride or anything.
I got my conversion kit from rockauto.com for $200.00 + shipping. It has the same ride height as before maybe sits a little lower. I would get new because you may end up with bad coils.
