For reliability predictions, I usually rely on Consumer Reports, and they indicate the 2023 is expected to have "Average" reliability, which is actually as good as it gets in the Large SUV category.
I've been doing "Build & Price" builds on the Ford website for years in anticipation of one...
Although the GVWR of that trailer is 7700 lbs, the dry weight is something like 5200 lbs, so unless you plan to load it with 2500 lbs, your trailer would likely be quite a bit less than 7700 lbs.
On the Ford Expedition "Build & Price" for 2023, if you select Heavy Duty Tow Package, the standalone 26mm Radiator shows up as "included." If you de-select the tow package and then select the 26mm radiator, it indicates that you also have to add the HD Tow Package to get it. That's for the...
To put it simply, the top table (Trailer Towing Selector) tells you the towing capacity for the VEHICLE. The lower table (Hitch Receiver Weight Capacity) tells you the weight capacities of the RECEIVER only, the square tube and frame on the back of the vehicle, nothing else. You have to use...
As mentioned by shane_th_ee above, that table only indicates how much weight you can put on the hitch receiver itself. Whether you order the HD Tow Package or not, you get the same hitch receiver. The HD Tow package adds the other components necessary to increase tow rating, like 3.73 rear...
The HD Tow Package increases the towing capacity substantially. Without it, you can't tow much more than a mid-sized SUV. With the HD package you can tow 9000+. That's the main benefit of the HD package, and I wouldn't order an Expy without it.
I think you might be confusing the 2021 and 2022 models for the Expedition. The packages are entirely different for 2022. From what I can see, the Texas Edition and Special Edition for 2021 were on the Limited, and included CCD and HD Tow Package. For 2022 they're on the XLT and are only...
What's happening now is a temporary aberration in the market due to the supply shortages. What you paid for your last Expy years ago, or even months ago, is irrelevant. I read an article on CNN yesterday that said 80% of new car customers on January paid OVER MSRP. Best option it seems, is...
If you haven't done so already, you really should find out from the dealer exactly what's on order now. The Stealth package for 2022 is somewhat different than for 2021, including a "sport-tuned suspension" that you may or may not want. For 2022 they also have two different Stealth versions...
My suggestion is, don't make decisions based on anecdotal accounts from a handful of owners. Spend $30 for a subscription to Consumer Reports online and compare reliability of vehicles based on actual data from surveys of 100s of thousands of owners. In the latest article on brand reliability...
If you want the best overall ride, from what I've read you want the CCD, which is allegedly "tuned" to the larger rims. I don't have CCD, but I intend to order it when I buy my Expy, likely in 2022.
You didn't mention which trim level you ordered, but in the Limited trim, according to the 2022 Expedition Order Guide, the 302A High package includes "Heavy-Duty Independent Suspension" which presumably would help with your payload capacity, although there is also speculation that this might be...
Where did you get the information that the heavy duty suspension is load leveling? Do you know if Ford has any info on this on the web? I haven't had any luck finding anything, and I think if I order a 2022 I want this. Thanks.
