    Nothing else needed after you plug the controller into the wiring harness. The test is to hook up a trailer with electric brakes and then take a cruise and squeeze the controller tabs to apply the brakes. If that works, everything else should as well.

    And if anyone wants to replace the whole shifter with new, know that part # FL7Z-7210-BB (which is for a Navigator) is a couple hundred dollars cheaper and works just fine. You do have to move the pre-installed mounting screws to different holes on the shifter (at least on my 2017 XLT).

    For all you 2015-2017 folks, I spent WAY to much time looking for the right replacement. I ended up with McGard 64023. Best I could find was Xtremediesel.com, coupon code SAVEME10, add a $2.95 decal to get over the $99 free shipping threshold, $101 plus tax out the door.

    I came to the same conclusion, bought this one for my '17: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AJH1HK Right price, worked well on on a five day 2500 mile trip. It got smacked off while parked on a narrow road, no damage, clipped right back on.

    Tires. It's all about the tires. I am a BIG fan of Wranglers with a 3 peak rating. I carry chains, but have not needed them at Lake Tahoe the past four years. How deep? Dunno, I just go. Well worth the summer time road noise hauling the crew to El Dorado County for wine tasting.
