Low voltage and then stalling out.

oddly enough, I just went out and ran the truck and the rough idling is gone?! Guessing the temp might have something to do with the rough idle? I still have white smoke but no water coming from the exhaust. I even took it down to the same gas station hard and fast there and back and still...

Okay I found I see the difference now between the test strips: (https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/environmental-test-sys.-cooltrak-coolant-test-strip-50-per-bottle-coo311519/22981647-P?searchTerm=test+strips) and the combustion leak tester...

I agree, determining whether I have a intake leak or head gasket leak is my primary focus now and I am going to worry about the possible tensioner and possible catalytic converter problems later. I found these test strips on the advance auto website. Are these what you are referring to? Also...

My thinking is spray carb or brake cleaner around bank 1 and 2 and see if the idle goes higher? I apologize for taking so long on my responses the rain is non-stop today and I can't get my stiches wet even a little so I've been trying to layer up and go out for a couple minutes at a time when...

okay the alternator bolt wouldn't move. I cleaned out the throttle body and found a lose tube in doing so. Still rough idle... While I was trying to listen for a vacuum leak, I did hear what to me sounded like a huge vacuum leak even after plugging in the tube that was just hanging there...

Low voltage and then stalling out.

mileage is around 149,000. I cleaned the MAF sensor but not the throttle body or MAF. I have never bought a new idle air controller. Nor a air cleaner. I just replaced all the plugs and the coil packs on bank 1 & 2. I wouldn't think I got bad gas but I don't know... I just ran a bottle of...

Low voltage and then stalling out.

I changed all the plugs and the coils on bank 1 & 2 about 1 year ago. Big 3 upgrade is I upgraded the grounds from the battery to the chassis and the ground to alternator all 0 gauge along with the power wire from Battery to alternator all 0 gauge. Is the tensioner pulley suppose to move up...

BUT before I even had a rough idle I had this HO alternator on the truck and there was never a rough idle... BUT then again I never disconnected the battery to reset the check engine light either until now..... Not trying to confuse anyone, just trying to give all the information I know.

another concern the manager had at advance was the regulator not being plugged in on the H.O alternator. He said when I unplugged the battery, the PCM or computer system might be having a hard time re-learning because of that regulator not being plugged. I'm in the works of trying to figure...

during the rough idle the voltage is fluctuating between .8 to .4 volts usually between 14.5 to 13.7 lowest sometimes gets to 13.3.

The truck does not stall out anymore, since I cleaned the MAF sensor. The truck ran fine after I cleaned the MAF sensor, so I disconnected the battery to reset the check engine light . Came back connected it and went to get gas. On my way to getting gas is when I noticed the rough idle had...

I determined that the screeching was coming from the ribbed idler pulley on the right side of the engine. Replaced that and screeching is gone. I visually inspected the rest of the pulleys in between the rain we're getting and I don't SEE what I would call bad pulleys. The tensioner is moving...

No I haven't checked for vacuum leaks. I did have a vacuum leak in the 4x4 system that was engaging the 4x4 in the front hub bearings. I replaced the 4x4 solenoid by the battery with 1 that had the plastic covering preventing water from getting in and still had the problem. I bypassed that...

It seems as if the rough idle has returned. I tried to clean the sensor and it's still idling rough. The truck doesn't seem to stall out as it did before but the idle is rough and the voltage fluctuates between plus or minus .8 to .4 volts. Again I have the H.O. Alt on right now and the...

Thanks, the voltage drop test will be something I do today just to double check everything. I got the MAF sensor plugged back in and everything is fine. The voltage is at 14.4-14.3 at idle and the truck is having no problems idling. Again, thank you for the suggestions! :)
