    330k miles without engine work

The start-up sound is coming from one or both chain tensioners. I had the same issue as well as the tic-tic-tic from a rocker/roller. My engine is a 2007, 5.4L 3v Lincoln Navigator. I replaced the timing components which included the tensioners and guides. While I was at it, I put in a new oil...

    Lincoln. Do you care?

I found my 2007 Lincoln Navigator L 4 years ago through Copart USA. It's an auction site with auctions around the country. LKQ Pick-Your-Part also has Navigators every so often, some are in good to excellent condition. LKQ Pick-Your-Part is where a lot of charity auto donations end up. Recently...

    VCT Replacement

I concur with JExpeditio07. Your valve covers will need to be removed. This will also allow you to examine the roller/followers, camshafts, and lash adjusters, etc. Clean the areas where the gaskets meet metal and use new gaskets including the rubber VCT grommets. Apply RTV silicone to the spot...

OEM Roller follower and Lash adjuster products .. are these REAL?

The previous owner of my Navigator said it ticked all the time but didn't give how long. I bought the truck knowing full well I'd be tearing the engine apart. I decided this within moments of turning over the engine. The roller follower was knocked off the valve stem/lash adjuster. The tensioner...

    Last year's engine work photos

Hey All, Here are some photos from last year's engine work that I did on my 2007, Lincoln Navigator, 5.4L 3V. It now has just under 240,000 miles I replaced the alternator, water pump, water pump pulley, thermostat, oil pump, oil filter, front crankcase seal, cam phasers, VCT solenoids, timing...

OEM Roller follower and Lash adjuster products .. are these REAL?

I found it easiest to remove the cam while replacing the roller follower and lash adjusters.

    Roller Follower of Manifold leak?

I concur with mr_dave. The symptoms you are describing are similar to how a chain tensioner will sound when the gasket has blown out. Cold engine, momentary rattle-like sound, then runs and sounds normally. Last year I had the same issue in my 2007 Lincoln Navigator L, 5.4 3v plus, a constant...

    Strange drivers side window issue

Okay, well finally, here is a solution. The issue with the driver's side window stopping has nothing to do with the fuse. The motor stops because the window actuator motor has overheated. This is caused by the motor straining to pull the cable which works to lift and or lower the window glass...

    2007 Expedition power steps

My '07 Lincoln Navigator has retractable power steps. Given the similarities between the Expeditions and Navigators, it may be possible to attach/power the steps. Search the Parts.Ford.com site and view the exploded parts diagrams for the Navigator, EL, and Platinum models. If you're thinking...

    Noisy 5.4 3v

Definitely a lifter, rocker/roller issue. I had the same sound from my cylinder 2. The roller had frozen and the ball on the lifter eventually wore down. Don't let that happen; I lucked out there wasn't more damage than those two parts.

    Coolant recommendation

Motorcraft -Yellow is the correct coolant to use. It can be blended with your coolant system's current coolant. However, it is best to drain the coolant system and refill it with Yellow. I put a 3/8" i.d. hose onto the petcock to avoid having the coolant spatter over the front part of the frame...
