    No other smoke that I could see but wasn't sure if it was all leaking out the egr and if I could find another leak if I plugged that one.

    Thanks ham, that makes sense! Should I just tape over the holes to smoke test it or is there a better place to insert the smoke machine?

    Aaaand still have the slightest of rough idles. No chain slap at startup, and I replace my oil with full synthetic 10w30 every 3000 miles or less. (I live in a pretty warm area, never gets below freezing so I don't use 5w30). No breather leaks as far as I can tell, I haven't smoke tested it yet...

    I've put 5w-30 in my '04 eb 5.4l 2v for the past 5 years and it's running great at almost 160k miles. Over time your oil will shear to a lighter weight anyway so I like starting off with a heavier weight.

    I don't think you can. I remember someone posted a picture somewhere of the two and one was a bit wider than the other one. Geometry seems to be a bit different. But would be nice to know for sure! One day someone will buy a cheap set on this forum and find out for everyone lol
