DAYTIME BrightLites Puddle Lights

A couple of days ago someone posted a link to www.daytimebrightlights.com for LED versions of the factory incandescent puddle lights. They appealed to me and the are supposed to be 20 times brighter. I am not sure how they measure that, but I bought them and they arrived today. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to install them today but I doubt it will take more than 5 minutes each side.

They appear to have a full disk of LED cells that face directly down. I took a before nighttime picture and tomorrow night I will take an after night time picture at about the same time to compare them.

Here are some pictures of the puddle lights themselves. I took the pictures with and without the flash to see if I could bring out any details.

Andy, to test a 12v LED for brightness, just take a 9v battery (the regular lil household duracell or energizer kind) and touch it to the wires

Theyll be at ~75% output but you can get the general idea and photograph it too --- dim lights will be dim, medium lights will be medium, and a massive freaking spotlight that can light up treetops will still be blindingly bright.

9v will power pretty much any 12v led

That was a great suggestion.

Here are the pictures. I think they are going to be very bright. You really can't tell from these pictures how bright they were and this was only at 9 volts. I have one more Live conference to conduct in about 25 minutes for the college courses I teach. After that I'll go install them and tonight I'll get some comparison pictures to show how bright they are. I think they are going to work out very well.

I found out that they aren't polarity sensitive. It doesn't matter which side you connect to the positive or the negative.

I installed them this afternoon it took about 5 minutes per side. The tricky part was you have to start on the locking tab side and pull it down slightly, then you have to pull back toward the locking tab to free the other side. Then they drop right down. Pretty easy. The new ones snapped right in and fit snug. Here are my install pictures.

The truck looks dirty, I washed it but didn't dry it today - water spots.

These are just hanging on the wires in the shade:





Tonight after it gets good and dark, I will post the comparison photos between the stock bulb and the LED.

This one is in full sun.

Okay so here are the results and the juice is worth the squeeze.

Here are some other pictures of it all lit up. Yes I'm very happy with this modification. The tail lights are still incandescents and so are the front corner lights, I haven't upgraded them yet. I have to turn off the bulb out warning to avoid the hyper flash issue and I haven't done that yet.

Got me sold on these! I'll be going to dealer Wednesday to have my bulb out warning turned off for my as I don't have Forscan

You don't need the bulb out feature turned off for the puddle lamps, only if you want to use LED turn signals front and rear. I'm still debating that part myself, although I'm looking at the CariD LED Tail Lights and the Stainless steel trim to put over them - maybe.

Been eyeballing these, definitely going to grab them now
