I don't know about you guys, but sometimes I hate the power lift gate. I'd love it if there was a manual override to open it. The release is electronic too. Dead battery=No lift gate=Lame IMO...
Unless I'm missing something?

I'm with you. Another gadget I dont need ... that can break.

What I did was go into setup and configure it to not open. So when I'm outside in the rear and press the button it unlatches but doesnt raise up. Manual lift & shut. Sort of 1/2 way there to full manual.

The button the the dash still opens & closes it. That comes in handy when I back into my buddies driveway for a golf game and can open it and close it without getting out and the guy in the back doesnt fumble around and release the lift glass like usual.

Ha. Yep, that lift glass always seems to get popped. My wife is small though, so I'm going to keep it functional for her. It's really the lack of a manual open option that bugs me.

I would like for vehicles to have manual windows too, although I appreciate not hitting my knee on the handle like the old days.

Dinosaur I guess

Nah, I like the crank windows in my 69, but I'll keep the power windows in everything else.

I had my first Expy for almost a year and walked back to open the liftgate. My son says, "Dad, did you know there's a button on the dash that will do that?"

THAT'S one of the reasons we have kids!

On our 2014 EL, the third seat can be power operated to close down and provide more hauling space. Our son's driveway is SO steep that when we backed up it to unload stuff, the power seats were unable to stand back uo - due to the angle of the driveway. IT'S STEEP! Hard to walk up.

I'd have never bought that house, but who am I?

Slightly off topic, every so often someone who isn't familiar with our Expy liftgate will pull it shut by hand. How bad is this for the power mechanism?

No cautions in the manual regarding physically closing the rear hatch that I could see.

Regarding an earlier preference for manual windows it's my understanding that power windows are now cheaper and easier for the factory to assemble than those with cranks. Maybe I dreamed that though.

20 years my then grade school daughter wanted to open the window in the car we were renting on a weekend and couldn't figure it out. Crank? What?

Speaking of lift gates......I've been able to open mine with my foot by sorta waving my foot under the center of the bumper, however, it seems to only work when it wants to instead of when I want it to.....no luck most of time.
