Rear Interior Lift Gate Button Not Working / Loud Beep

2007 Eddie Bauer that just went over 465k miles. Having this issue for a while now where the button in the rear to close the power lift gate makes a loud sustained beep noise (few seconds) and does not close the gate. All other buttons work and closes the gate, the front dash and on the key fob. I disconnected the battery, unplugged the connectors, but issue is persisting. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
