Use Mobil One 10w-30 synthetic in it and you should have good luck with it. The 3V motors had a problem keeping oil pressure to the heads at idle with the factory recommended 5w-20 oil and the timing chain guides wore out as well. If you start hearing ticking or chain slap from the front of the motor don't wait too long to change out the timing chains and hardware. Use Ford Gold coolant in it, not that green crap. Water pump replacements are fairly painless on the Triton motors, and cheap preventive maintenance.

I have an 06 limited that just turned 199,000. No tick from the motor. I run full synthetic in it and have the oil changed at the dealer every 5000 miles. Although this time around it is about 2000 overdue because I have been working 6 12 hour days for a few months. Going in next Saturday.

I hate to be a wet blanket on the others, but unless your 04 is a real early 05 with a 3valve engine, you don't have cam phasers or solenoids. Only the F150 had the first 3 valve/24 valve engine in 2004. Your 2004 Expedition is the last year of the 2v/16 valve 5.4 engines. But as always the advice of regular oil changes, 5 k is best, and transmission services at the 30-35k service interval, and theirs no reason your SUV shouldn't go out to the 300k and beyond point. Good luck, and I hope that helps.

An 03 shouldn't have cam phasers and almost all of these 5.4s go 200-250K+

5w-30 or full syn and it will last a long time.

What is wrong with green coolant???? It is fine as long as you change it every so often.
Hard to find though. I mean real green old school stuff NOT the yellow extended crap.

Why would you have to change a modular water pump as preventative maintenance?
They almost never go bad or leak. Best water pumps I have ever seen on an engine line.
If they leak, then replace.

Our 2004 5.4 2v w/AdvanceTrac Expedition has 255,000 with original water pump, alternator, starter, fuel pump, power steering pump, etc,
No a/c work needed yet. Only had one coil pack and plug replaced and two heater hoses and all four TPMS sensors. Using only Havoline conventional 5w20 oil every 5-6000 miles. Just replaced batteries and tires and routine fluid /filter changes including fuel filter.
Keeping our fingers crossed and hoping for 300,000+.
