I think a trash container with a hook on the side just might fit by hooking onto the side of the ledge in the image.

Seen anything that might work?

You mean you want to put a trashcan hanging into the driver's side footwell? I feel like that may not be a great idea safety-wise, but I'm no vehicle safety expert.

Yes you are (but may not have known it until now)

I guess I asked the wrong people. I didn't think that I was the only person aware of auto trash containers of such a size as it would absolutely not interfere with a small woman's control ability--but then who am I to understand all the ways of the Ford forum cognoscenti ;-)!.

The concern is that something would roll around and under the gas/brake pedal & interfere with control of the vehicle. You go to a Forum for other peoples thoughts, right?

Just trying to help out, sorry if you cant handle it.

This website with auto garbage cans specifically mentions that safety risk

Man, it got testy in here quick!!!

The risk mentioned in the links you sent was of things rolling around on the floor (“Avoid getting a piece of trash from getting stuck under your brake or gas pedals by tossing it inside a trash bin instead. The less garbage in your car equals fewer distractions on the road.”) I think the OP is looking for something to specifically prevent free radicals from finding their way to the floor by, oh I don’t know, having a trash can to find their way into instead.

That being said, I also scratched my head initially as I can’t imagine having a trash can in my footwell. But to each their own...if it doesn’t interfere with your knee, go for it!!!

I just throw my trash in the back seat and blame it on the kids...

That said, we haven't found a good way to place a trash bin up front, I wouldn't put one on the drivers side but we are still looking for one to put on the passenger side that could work well. We have some that hang from the head rests for the passengers in the back rows.

In the 80's I had a girlfriend with a nice Monte Carlo. She kept that thing squeaky clean.
One day she rolled the window down and tossed her MickyD's trash out onto the road.
I said "what are you doing?"
She said "I don't want any trash in my car"
I said "You're a PIG"

It didn't end well

How'd her bedroom look? Did she throw her clothes on the floor in a heat of passion? Well at least before the McDonald's incident!

I don't think I ever gave her an opportunity to do that :devilfinger:
