2020 Expedition Shift Alert Indicator

My daughter's Expedition showed a "Shift Alert" warning light and the vehicle seems to stall on her. Slowed almost to a stop then the indicator disappeared and the vehicle continued. Did it twice this morning. Called Ford and they said they've never heard of this happening and the manual doesn't show a n explanation. Anybody have any ideas?

i have no idea - but, this sounds like it was possibly in manual shift mode & she was close to redlining it & it choked itself out for protection - perhaps the manual mode was accidental? not sure if it does that in this vehicle as i rarely use that mode?

I know I am late to this conversation but this happened to me today. I was driving on the interstate. Going about 75-80 (speed limit is 70) when the wrench picture showed up with the shift alert. The car preceded to shut down on me so I went to side of road as soon As it was shutting down and braked. Scared me so bad since I was having a hard time getting control of the car. I Never shifted it into a different gear. It was never shifted on accident. I didn’t have the car in cruise. I am scared now to drive it in case this happens again. Has anyone else had this issue since the post in may? The dealership by me can’t get me in till next Friday.

Have your daughter take a picture of the warning light the next time it illuminates.

The would give you the correct icon to look-up in the manual, and show the dealer. There may be a trouble code stored also
