SSM 52175 - 2024 Expedition/Navigator - Lower Than Actual Fuel Level Indication On The Fuel Gauge Or Inaccurate Distance To Empty (DTE) Displayed In The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) After Adding Fuel

Some 2024 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may exhibit lower than actual fuel level indication on the fuel gauge or inaccurate DTE displayed in the IPC after adding fuel to the vehicle. This may be due to the IPC software and can occur if the vehicle is shut off before placing the gear shift module (GSM) in Park (P) and then partially filling the fuel tank. The fuel level indicator and DTE will self-recover after several hours if this condition occurs. Currently, a remedy for this concern is being developed and is expected by the end of the first quarter of 2024. Continue to monitor OASIS for updates.

Updates will be added to this post when they become available.

Ford is reinforcing this message to Service personnel and adding a Build Date range for the concern...

Special Service Message 52441 - 2024 Expedition/Navigator - Lower Than Actual Fuel Level Indication On The Fuel Gauge Or Inaccurate Distance To Empty (DTE) Displayed In The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) After Adding Fuel - Built On Or Before 19-Dec-2023

Some 2024 Expedition/Navigator vehicles built on or before 19-Dec-2023 may exhibit lower than actual fuel level indication on the fuel gauge or inaccurate DTE displayed in the IPC after adding fuel to the vehicle. This may be due to the IPC software and can occur if the vehicle is shut off before placing the gear shift module (GSM) in park (p) and then partially filling the fuel tank. To correct the condition, perform the IPC module programming using the latest level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). For claiming, use causal part 10849 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
