I saw that thread, but I believe it was on a XLT.

You got cheap Amazon junk. Take a look at https://www.bulbfacts.com/. You can search by bulb type and whether you’re installing the bulb into a projector housing or reflector housing. Site has a plethora of information to go through and is well worth the read. This is what I just got for my 2018 Limited that came with halogens (mechanic installed them): SYJIIP Compatible with FORD EXPEDITION (2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021), 9005/HB3/H10 High Beam + H11/H8/H9 Low Beam Headlight Bulbs + 9145 Fog Light Bulbs, 20000LM 6000K Cool White, Pack of 6
The high beams are bright, but the low beams have this dim rectangle in across the middle. Is that the difference of reflector vs projector. I might add, the mechanic said the fog lights don't fit, so I don't really trust the manufacturer.
Has to do with Beam pattern, and can be completely the same for ANY LED. Even the highend ones can have the issue you very clearly showed. VERY FEW LED's work well in projectors, but some do work in reflectors well, IF oriented correctly. Many allow you to spin them, to orient them to best emit light in the direction of the reflector.Yes, I did. And more importantly I didn't research this enough, re: projector vs reflector. From what I've read today, HID bulbs will be better in the projector low beams and LEDs will be better in the reflector high beams. So, I'll replace the "cheap Amazon junk" low beam LEDs with HIDs. And, at least for now, leave the "cheap Amazon junk" LEDs in the high beams, since they appear to be fine.
HID’s require a ballast. The 2nd statement is the more accurate statement. So I don't understand which of these two statements in blue are true:
